Although I'm a new member to this group but not new to Bangkok as I have been living there part-time (2 weeks in a month) for the past 5 years as my work requires it.

Here's my 2 cents worth about the scene there :

PATPONG.

Its a must go for tourists and first time visitors as the iconic place which describes Bangkok by night. Go there once just to say you have been there but then you'd really not want to go a second time. In a way the place is a victim of its own success with more and more tourist visiting it, more and more of them getting hustled and ripped off, word gets around and people become wiser. Many of the go-go bars have closed down and for some reason most of them have been replaced by luggage shops. So, in the future when you say you are going to Patpong, it means that you're looking for a suitcase!

NANA PLAZA

Its Patpong in the earlier days when you can have a drink, take your time sizing up what's on the bar top, whether to pay the bar fine or just have that drink - no hassles from the girls. It's largely a farang place with the odd customer from Japan or Singapore but almost no local Thais (more about that later). Personally, I do not frequent Nana Plaza because I think it's a fire trap. The whole place is a 'U' shaped block with only one entrance and exit. Think what happens if a bar near the entrance catches fire.

SOI COWBOY

This was my reqular for the reason above and my favourite bar is Toy Bar. It all started on one of my bar hopping jaunts and found that the girls here are nice and friendly not pushy like in Patpong. Paid a lot of bar fines at this place but recently I decided to move on as too much familarity may not be a good thing.

ASOKE PLAZA

This is just a stone's throw from Soi Cowboy and the place is more casual with the bar being open bars like those you find by the beach in Pattaya or Phuket. Nothing special about this place except my current regular is there. I'm not much into one night stands preferring to have a regular girl for the medium term. As you all know the first time, there's always some awkardness in 'breaking in' each other.

LOCAL PLACES

There are many local places but you really need to go with a Thai friend, which I do sometimes, English is not universally spoken here. Rates are much lower and this explains why you hardly see Thais at Patpong, Nana etc. They know where it's cheaper. But, I don't frequently follow my Thai friends, at least until I have improved my Thai. Granted, language is not paramount in these escapades but I find that being able to communicate adds another dimension to it.

MASSAGE PARLOURS

Personally, I prefer those at Rachadapisek Road - Emanuelle, etc but traffic along that road is a real bitch especially around 5 o'clock with all the road works. But they have been completed and traffic seems to have improved. Meanwhile, I have been frequenting Darling at Sukhumvit 12 for no other reason that it's close to where I live. The place is a bit tatty and relatively expensive (THB 2,500). It's the usual soapy kind of place but I find that some of the girls have this special knack for 'Japanese massage' as someone calls it. That is they give you a blow job and at the same time insert one or two fingers into your anus. Quite a experience if you are into anal stimulation! In all my visits there, the girls would challenge and insist I come twice - once in the bath and another on the bed. No matter how tired I am that day, they always suceed!

MEMBERS CLUBS

I have been to a few of these but found that they are mostly Thai speaking. I'm sure there are some that are more internationally oriented but I'm also gradually improving my Thai.

Good overview ... juz got back from bangkok and went to Mirage and Poseidon(Stay in emerald). Mirage only offer single shot 1.5 hr and posiedon two shot for 2hr. Service better at poseidon with body massage etc, the mirage just F & go. Luckily tried the 2nd time at poseidon else i thought those JB HC girls are better. The bars or 'clubs' as they are called, many named after famous artists, are a more refined version of the standard Bangkok bar scene. The girls in there are usually in evening gowns, quite classy but the bar fine equally classy too. I can't remember how much but maybe 3 or 4 times that of Soi Cowboy. I don't go there that often because when you're naughty, you don't want to be too refined right? Anybody feels the same way?

As for massage parlours employing students part time, sometime back I went to one called Yes, I Do at Ramkamhaeng with students from the nearby university but the experience was largely forgetable. The 18 year old something I took simply did not know what to do. Anyway that place has closed down.

Sometime back also I picked up (or was pick up) by a FL along the street outside Robinsons at Sukhumvit. There are quite a few FL's loitering there and would approach you if you make eye contact with them. The one I took home then, look like a student earning tution fees, although I didn't ask. But again the experience was so-so.

For me, I always prefer someone experienced. I guess different strokes for different folks.

haha..Sukhumvit Soi 33 is still my favourite...barfine is 1500 baht.which is rather costly..u can actually bring back a FL from other pubs already with tat kind of money ..Bar fine at Soi Cowboy range from 400 to 600 baht. Nearly Barfine a Tg from Soi Cowboy..but was not free to bonk her on tat day as my Tirak meeting me later in the night...SO got her Hp number instead..In which it is one of the ways to siam the Barfine.

At Huey Kwang, can try to speak thai or english, all it takes is a bit of boldness and humour (apart from "I think I've seen you before" starting line). Usually I go straight to them and say "hi, I want to get to know you because I keep staring at you".

Heck, all I have to do is call anyone of them I'm coming and they'll fetch me from the airport, send me to my office everyday, etc, etc, and be there for me at night when I'm there.

Keet and Thaivisitor have a good point there. I too find it more satisfying to have a regular tirak rather than a different short time every night. There is a certain comfort in the familarity built up over time. However like I have said earlier, in this 'business' too much familarity may not be a good thing and I try not to let any of this drag on for more than a year. So far so good as around that time such relationsips tend to drift. In my case at least.

My current tirak has a day job and work in the bar as a second job although when I'm there she doesn't go to the bar, unless I have a business dinner which in Thailand is quite often (entertainment and personal relationship play a more important part in business than in Singapore). I like to do everything in reverse..so I come with my conclusions first.

But IMO I got to agree with RM and the indo cheongsters. Maybe BKK and thailand is the official sin-city, but jakarta and Indonesia must be the unofficial one.

I didn't go to Patpong or Soi Cowboy. Also the vaunted Club eden(Threesome haven..anything goes) was not on my list even though staying at the ambassador and PResident Solitaire it was all close by. And the Skytrain makes everything SO easy. (Why can't the DAMN indo's do the same...compared to thailand Indonesia is so much richer, but they are now seriously left behind by BKK at least)

Starting with NEP. Man this place is a riot...a lot of westerners, but thankfully with all the japs around it's ok if you're an asian.First things first.. I heard some scary stories from thai people that say that NEP is unsafe!! The girls here are all unchecked and not really "clean". Not sure how true this is...anyone? Or is it just a scary story by taxi driver who want youy to got to a MP?

In NEP I didnt sit in the beer bars outside...just dont see how much fun it is to sit outside. I dont come there to chitchat, even though some of the chicks look nice. I guess if you're looking for more than a one night fling..this is the place to get the TGFE for your stay in LOS.
While I was there I chose to visit the GOGO bars...frankly the babes in rainbow II are the undisputed best lookers. Other places have a couple of choice ones..but RB2 is known for having the lookers. All of them have something special..great face, great body or both. If you are into the japanese looking girls ..this is the place to be.
Anyway the gals there are aware of this and there attitude is reminiscent of the gals in Patpong. Very jaded and they think that all they need to do is look pretty and that's enuff. Prices are here pretty high.
BF is like everywhere in NEP(?) 600bht, ST is 2000. But LT is 4000(elsewhere it's 3000)
IN RB2 they all seem to be more interested in ST.

A real dose of reality...didnt need the coffee to wake me up. I don't know why she had all the scars..but it scared the hell out of me.Even with a face like that..she doesnt work at a gogo bar. Afraid that losing face could cause her to create a scene or go crazy...I chose to walk back to the hotel with her instead of dismissing her at once. Here I gave her a few hunderd bht and told her i was just to tired. I knew that if she went crazy..I could runaway to the hotel and hope the hotel security will stop her.
What i did was not so brave..but at least I have avoided trouble here and no one got hurt or embarassed]

Sutthisan...intra mura road near soi 4 aka RCA aka RCAII. Agree with advice here, it's near a 7-11.Actually there are two of them. The 7-11 at soi 4 is actually the start of the bars. It's like NEP...a bunch of gogo bars, but more suited for the locals. No expat or tourist insight. The gals are IMO lower quality then in NEP and the places are pretty seedy. Also no one here can speak english at all.People are pretty pushy and keep on hassling you for drinks and tips etc.The gals are only 1500 ST and 2000 LT. NO BF, but here you pay the gal in advance!! Well you can guess the potential problem here. With a NEP gal LT means the whole night so you could relax awhile and maybe grab a bite to eat first. This is what I did...than all of a sudden the gal wanted to go to the toilet. I let her go, after 30 minutes I knew something was wrong. After talking to concierge and tourist police for advice they told me to go back to the bar and ask for money back. I did just that, but they refused to pay out at first, in the end I only got 1000bht back of the 2000bht. I didnt push it , but filed this experience in my memory. I guess with paying upfront this could become a problem. The bar I got the girl from is the first bar you come after you up from 7-11 at soi 4 near the gasstation and it's actually the biggest bar with the best looking chicks. But after this experience I didnt want to try my luck again.
Why did i say here...aka RCA and RCA 2. I think when people talking about RCA and picking up girls..this is the place they mean. There are 2 bars here and they are called RCA and RCA2. Anyway maybe I'd try my luck next time, but if you are staying at the sukhumvit area. Dont waste your time.

MPs....wow was i looking forward to visiting them. Poseidon was the best...the gals are real lookers. Expensive, but wwhen you consider the BF and ST. reasonable.

Agree with most of what you've mentioned.
But from reviews as well as hands on experience, Sabaidee is "THE PLACE" for B2B/Arb Naam. Well, I feel that any of the Sabai establishments beat the BKK MPs in terms of service and pricing. Poseidon is good among the Bkk establishments but still lacking compared to the Sabai Group.
Wasted you didn't try Patpong. Brought abt 4 different groups of cheongsters there the last 3 years or so, we all enjoyed the happening there. In case you're wondering which joints, King's Castle 1 and 2, but go after 9pm for better quality puyings. King's Castle 3 if you're into Khatoeys, ok if you're entirely hertosexual, really an eye opener. Common consensus is that Patpong ranks 1, followed by NEP and Cowboy. Been to all three and that's what I feel also.
Pay a visit to the scene outside Siam Hotel and Thermae Cafe next time you're there, plenty of FLs plying their trade.
Since you mentioned missing out on couple of places, better head back to BKK for some sanukking soon. :D

Well, having an open attitude is always a good option. As we all know, these establishments have their good and bad batches of puyings. Bad now, good in a couple of months. Have to say that I've been lucky to have experienced a couple of good batches of puyings.
Haven't given much thought about vying with farangs over puyings, basically becos asian and caucasian tastes dun clash, we go for the fairer skinned ones whereas farangs go for the darker skinned puyings.
Speaking of NEP, I was in one of the 2nd level Go-Gos and there was a pair of attractive twins in the joint. The bar was close to the end on the right side of the complex. That was about a year and a half ago, wonder if they're still there.

You're right. Not everyone like the "pushy" behaviour of some of the puyings there in Patpong.
As for my friends and I, we go for all sorts of cheonging, from the "well behaved" MP puyings to the outrageously slutty puyings of discos, FLs and Go-Go. Dun want to miss out any fun anywhere. Think about it, if the puyings dun push then they probably have to "eat grass". In my case I just tell them that I already have a puying in mind and they'll go away, no hassle.
So I shuffle between MPs, G0-Gos, discos but stop at "open bars", that one in my opinion really cannot make it, more so when you see the retired oversized farang sipping his beer ther from 4 in the afternoon. See the lone go-go pole there really no appetite. :p

I have just make a call to thaivisitor, after I arrived via cab to my hotel from BangNa Trad. The review which I have started to write seems abit lenghty and I think I will abandon the idea of continuing on. Great FR from Bro Thaivisitor. I just came back from BKK. As I am a newbie as I told u, due to limited time, only went to Poseidon on both nites. First nite got a ger at 3,500 while second one cost 2,900 while my mates got someone from 4,500 to 5,500.

Cambodia is really a sore to the eye, have never seen such a poverty with kids roaming around you begging for money, some volunteering to carry your luagage, some offering to umbrella you with a broken umbrella seems pick up from the street, etc.. Very discomfort and uneasy feeling. Propet is still not so bad, they are quite receptive and open for foreigners as compared to Daung which basically did not have much foreigner. They dont even know if Msian or Sporean need a visa to enter Cambodia or not. Propet as casino operated by Genting Group and several hotels are also under construction. A happening place soon. Booking is only 200b~300b a day if you willing to take the risk of high AIDS rate there. AIDS warning posters and signboard are everywhere.

Went there the first time already swear will not go again but alas under pressure, decide to give the place 2nd and 3rd chance but still darn disappointed, so no more Nana for me (this time real one). Thanks for your recommendation but NaNa is not a place for me. Went there the first time already swear will not go again but alas under pressure, decide to give the place 2nd and 3rd chance but still darn disappointed, so no more Nana for me (this time real one). I find NaNa a little like the Pattaya (sala) concept you mentioned, Blackie/auntie puyings.
The chinese/taiwan/Hong Kong/Jap/Korean crowds stick to the joints I mentioned and eventually all will gather in Stardice after 2230hrs. You won't get to see more than 15 farangs in there at any one time.
In Bkk, I go all over the place. Sukhumvit, Silom (Patpong), Khao Sarn, Ratchada, Rama 9. Except Cowboy and Nana, Si beh f*#ked up in my opinion. Cowboy and NaNa caters more to Arab and farang crowd.

What happen if you have friends who are first timers in Bangkok and want to visit NaNa b'cos they heard so much about the place and want to experience it? Would you not bring them? Of would you tell them to go themselves?

The 2nd and 3rd chance came from there, Had to "Eng Siu" friends in order not to be a party pooper but end up disappointed. In the end my friends say yah hor, should've listened to you better go Patpong.
Lucky in a sense that my friends have more or less same taste for cheonging together. Or course once in a while must know when to "Eng Siu" just to make everyone happy. ;)

Well, I got about 6 of my regular cheonging kakis "hooked" to Pattaya. We have cheonged Riau, JB, Bkk, Hatyai and Pattaya. Pattaya is the place for us, always has been for me. Like I said, moving around Pattaya is really convienient on public transport or alternatively get a small bike for THB 150/day. Ladies plentiful, disco, MPs, A Go Go, open bar and what not.
Yeah, Pattaya has improved a great deal over the last 6 years or so, back in 1997 was not so happening, now different story. Hope you get to sanuk there soon. :p

At Huey Kwang, can try to speak thai or english, all it takes is a bit of boldness and humour (apart from "I think I've seen you before" starting line). Usually I go straight to them and say "hi, I want to get to know you because I keep staring at you".

The places along Sukhumvit e.g Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy do not have tiger shows although they do have sows with pussies smoking. drinking coke, shooting darts etc. But if it is tiger shows you want there are taxi driver touts hanging around Ambassador hotel offering to bring you to such places. I have not tried them but if you do, be careful and let common sense prevail.

For me, I'd rather do than to see and my favourite hangout is Asoke Plaza at the junction of Sukhumvit and Asoke Roads. It a casual, open bar kind of place but not everyone's cup of tea. Of course, my current tirak is there too.

yup agree with u... the tiger show is nothing to shout abt.. once u see it before dun think u ever want to see it again. cos most of the performer are not very attractive.

bro I think these modus operandi more or less extinct already, a few years back still prevalent maybe now i think few and far in between. 'upstairs' bars in Patpong most clean up their act already, try not to go in the afternoon when you are the only customers though when then they can claim they put on exclusive show just for you and your friends.
OK lah bro, I give you REAL advise.

If you really want to see a good tiger show, check with your hotel sightseeing agent, or the bellboy to introduce an organiser. I cannot remember the name of the place, but it is a proper tiger show.

If you go to Patpong, you will probably be cheated especially by those touts.

The touts will approach you with a card showing a lists of what's in the tiger show and that beer is price at only 60 Baht. You will then be taken to a 2nd floor bar, and will see small scale tiger shows. girls will also be sitting with you and you will be enjoying yourself.

come "check bill" time, a group of "tough looking" guys will come over to collect the payment. They will of course tell you cover charge for the show is US$30, drinks at US$60 per drink, and you drank "so many" drinks and the girls "so many" drinks which you will end up having not enough money.

Then you will be asked to show your wallet and whatever money in whatever currency will be taken, even vietnam dongs. You will have no choice since there is a large group, and arguing will get you nowhere. The tout of course will not be around.

At the most, you make a report to the useless tourist police who will see whether you are influential enough for him to get back your money.

So advise is don't go to 2nd floor of any patpong bars. :cool:

Hey bro, Huey Kwang's an area. If you happen to go back to BKK soon, you should really try going there for supper, there's this place near the start of the stretch with a must-try BBQ big-head prawn.

It's also a nice place to chat people up as alot of middle to lower class women like to shop around there.
