Actually, I believe that pleasure and pain are not truely opposite feelings but are merely co-existing on a continuum at the same level i.e. pain might become pleasure and vice-versa. That explains why there are SM acts and ppl who are S or M in sexual orientation e.g. some might enjoy being spanked whereas there are others who loves spanking during foreplay or the actual copulation.
