Actually, kudos to you for creating this whole forum.
As horny men, or just plain guys get together, with or without girls, the topic of sex is quite common.
Short of saying who has the longest, biggest erection; who can cum how many times per night, or who can give a woman multiple orgasms during one session; accummulation of rep points and power is another step to demonstrate virility.
Thanks for the great idea of starting this site.

Boss first there's nothing. Everybody here are equal. Then u introduce the rupt pt into tis cyberworld. The 1 thing tat can now differentiate btn samsters. Kind of like a icon of power.... Unlike the real world where we can have many different type of Icon like Money, Women, Power and all the "c" etc, here oni rupt pt.... Hehe so wat do u expect?

Dear boss sammyboyfor:
No lah. The rep points are not exactly worthless, because by introducing them you attached value to them. Rep points equivalent to credibility and honesty. Essentially that, regardless the failings of using 'popularity] (really) as a measure of those two values.
I do agree that some members have gone overboard in their quest for rep points. But essentially, there is really no harm in it as far as I can see right now.
At the same time what you hoped to achieve by introducing the system, I would say you have achieved those objectives. So really, if you look at it, your decision was an enlightened one and as it has turned out is really a good one because you have achieved what you set out to do with it in the first place.
At most, the by-product is a bit nuisance to some (though I must admit not to me).
Given the choice between:
* A forum with lots of liars and a**holes etc getting away scot-free with posting rubbish, counterproductive crap and sheer fabrications passing off as real leads and contacts and FRs etc—who get away scot-free because there is no easy and quick way to establish and recognise their credibility and to some measure their character etc.
OR
* A forum where there are measures to handle them and minimise their presence or impact, no matter how modest the effectiveness of such measures, but with the minor nuisance of having some folks who want to promote themselves and gain reputation points.
I understand some bros don't have contacts or even FRs to share, but who really want to contribute to this forum—it's good that they can find ways to contribute, even if it's by offering free downloads and such.
Maybe these free downloads also mean higher traffic to this forum?
Anyways, dear boss, don't be a perfectionist lah. You've done good stuff here.
Thank you much for all the years of good work on this site and the most wonderful forum it hosts!

I have no problems with the overall impact of the reputation system. In fact, it has made managing this forum a lot easier and you are absolutely right that it establishes a sort of "credibility" rating of the people who congregate here.
However, what annoys me is the number of members who PM me demanding to know WHO deducted ONE point from their score and WHY they did so?
More often than not, these members have reputation points coming out their ears.... they have hundreds of points... helleva lot more than I have and yet they can't bear the thought of losing one or two points without "justification".
If your score was 421 and it becomes 417, nobody else will even notice the change, let alone bother about it. Wait a few hours and the score will probably be back to what it was so what's the fuss about????
This is what I mean when I say reputation points are being taken far too seriously by many.
As for the additional traffic created by the links exchange, you have to realise that link exchanges attract people who are looking for freebies... people who hunt down freebies are not the sort who are going to whip out their credit cards and contribute to the revenue generating programs of this forum. :D In webmaster speak, it's referred to as traffic which does not convert (meaning it sucks up more $$ than it contributes). Have a nice day.

Haa... Do u think Boss will get pissed over people posting free pics for all? As u had mentioned, it means more traffic for him. And what does more traffic means? Definitely more revenue.
As i just mentioned in my earlier reply... traffic alone does NOT mean more revenue.. the immediate impact of higher traffic is simply higher overheads because the bandwidth bill will go up.
Higher traffic only equates to higher revenue if a sufficient percentage of the traffic actually calls sammyboychat, or signs up for sexkey or verotel ticket club.. or clicks through to the magix site and purchases some magix pills or purchases stuff from my other advertisers, or signs up to jp18.com or purchases time to watch some sexkey movies.
People who come here looking for FREE movies and pictures are NOT the sort who would use their credit cards over the net. They are the sort who will do their utmost to find free stuff so they don't have to pay for it. In fact, chances are they don't even have credit cards.
I'm putting up with the traffic at the moment. I need to find ways to turn this traffic into revenue. At the moment, it is not possible.

I agree partly with bro Microsoft. While the rep pt system is appealing (to me also I must confess), the downside is it makes it difficult for the mavericks. Some mavericks deserve to be flamed and zapped but its also good to have people who think their own way. I have lurked here a long time so I can feel the difference in culture. Bros who have been here since 2001/2002 agree?
There's so much politeness here you begin to wonder if all is sincere.
Other forums elsewhere are full of wars and in that funny way they have life and soul. Such as scs and sammyboy's coffeeshop.

The rep pts is simply worthless. Getting hundreds of points, so they can so-called get the "trustworthy" x factor in SB forum. And then making use of the rep pts to get "lobangs", "girls" etc.
What a joke. You seriously think these people helping you to "maintain" the forum. Maybe there is, but you probably get that from the 1 out of 100 "rep pts hungry" samsters. Probably you see another whole new set of problems soon.

The 'Rep Points' system does have its benifits. If the desperation of forum users to increase their points leads them to submit more 'links' of superior 'quality' for thet rest of the community to 'enjoy', then what's there to complain about? It's similar to what capitalism does to an economy. It gives people incentives.

I've seen many people commented on the rep points, saying it doesn't matter to them, it's worthless, should be done away with, etc, etc,
I'm just curious that if it really is not important to the particular samsters, or it;s worthless, etc, etc, and that they don't bother about it, that why do these samsters bother even to let others know?
I mean, if its worthless to you, all you need to do is ignore it. Why the need to explain it to the rest of the samsters? If it's not important to you, why don't you just ignore it instead of explaining it out to the samsters?
The fact that samsters do "bring it out" to let others know that the rep pts doesn't this or doesn't that to them, actually shows that they do take notice, subconciously, at least.

Can't do that for the simple reason that too many here combine cyberspace with the real world. They know each other outside of this forum and often meet socially.
You'll notice that when a newbie gets zapped for breaching the rules, the old timers will gang up and zap the newbie further. However, when one of their own gets zapped, they gang up to restore his points! :D
Moderators need to be impartial and detached from the daily shenanigans that occur amongst members both in the forum and in real life.

I'm not saying that rep pts are worth alot or for that matter anything. Even Sam himself has stated that the pts are worthless.
My point is that we see samsters out here claiming that rep pts are not important to them, etc, etc. Why bother to tell others if this is not an important issue to the respective samsters. Then again, the same samsters will also post whenever there is a deduction of their pts. Their post will of course be put in such a way to tell everyone that they couldn't care less if their pts are deducted. If such is the case, why don't just ignore the deduction and why the need to voice it out?
If rep pts don't mean anything at all, then why are there posts mentioning it at all? This include those who says that the pts don't mean anything at all to them and indirectly criticize others who do.
I have never seen anyone that will make a statement about something that is not important to them, not bothered about, etc. On the contrary, there are many who pretended to make statements to say these matters don't bother them.
My 2 cents worth.

Since you so nicely equate samsters who helped, directly or indirectly as "moderators" to "dogs", let me help you to put it further.
Samsters, whether knowingly or unknowingly, do moderate as moderation comes in several forms. Let me list a few.
1. You are moderating whenever you deduct a samsters pts to show disapproval of the post.
2. You are moderating whenever you add a samsters pts to show approval of the post.
3. You are moderating whenever you "flame" or criticize a post to show disapproval.
4. You are moderating whenever you "encourage" a certain posts to show approval.
Unless, you have not done any of these, that only you can say you have not assisted in moderation whether knowingly or unknowingly.
I admit that I have. And if you say you haven't, then only a fool will believe you.

hahaha, comments taken out of context again.
Anyway, you do see samsters who wag their tails agreeing with every action taken by the "owner".
1. You are moderating whenever you deduct a samsters pts to show disapproval of the post.
I deduct "dogs" who deem rep points as important.
2. You are moderating whenever you add a samsters pts to show approval of the post.
I add samsters who ask me for it, not because of how worthy their post is.
3. You are moderating whenever you "flame" or criticize a post to show disapproval.
That is not moderation. That is freedom of speech. I can voice my opinions on issues of the country, doesn't mean I am "moderating" the country.
4. You are moderating whenever you "encourage" a certain posts to show approval.
Same answer as 3.
As for welcoming me to the kennel club, thats for dogs who wag their tails. I bite, thats why I "stand outside the club".

Actually this rep points thingy is part of the Vbulletin system. There are certain algorithm within it that can actually be tweaked easily. The webmaster decides if he wants to implement the system. In many sites, the choice has been to omit them. The reason being this obsession with the rep points and the number of frivolous pms to the webmaster which is really annoying. The positive will be handing over the moderation to the general forumers instead of having to ban or disable any account.

My 2 cents worth.
haahahhaa well said, but let's face it... the points do make a difference here for almost everyone.

The positive will be handing over the moderation to the general forumers instead of having to ban or disable any account.
vbulletin indeed is one of the best forum software and the reputation point system is just one of the hacks that vbulletin have...there are plenty of other hacks...depending whether the webmaster wants it to be install or not :)
check out this link for vbulletin hacks :)

Boss,
Since points so valuable to bros in this SB forum, I thinking you should use the points to tie up with some companies for promotion. Like NTUC linkpoints can used to exchange vouchers and items... SB forum points can used to exchange
CD, hotel stay and more. make earning points difficult so that they become more valuable. like only the moderators can given out points to bros here instead of letting all bros given each other points. You can have advertisments from the sponsors and generate some revenues.
just my ideas. please dont zap me if you think they are stupid ideas.

I have been loging on to Sammyboy for quite a few yrs now. It has never ceased to amaze me the pace at which this forum progresses. It has accompanied me through days of raging hormones and has also been a source of entertainment to read the views of fellow Singaporeans who had evolved from the accustomed dogma of Sg society.
However, since the implementation of the "Points" system, the order of things has changed around here. All these mundane tiffs, squabbles etc and words or threats of gansterism over a few meagre points amounts to nothing but a futile attempt of boosting his already "deflated" ego in the real world. These attempts to protect ones' brusied ego has in fact contradicted the implementation of the point system in the first place. We now have threads of idle chatter, squabbling, incessant commentory and mutual praises all done in the very essence of of "upping" one's self esteem or prestige thru the point system. All these amounts to wasted traffic. Collusion among members seeking boycott newbies or enemies through the use of the point system could best be examplified by the Nash equilibrium. Boy and they said NS would make u a man!
Now the gist is- it has been great to see an alternative forum (especially for an SG one) to be around for so long. Thus, it would truely be a shame to witness its undoing all beause of the point system (truely reminds me of the psle scoring system).
Thus, it would truely be a shame to witness its undoing all beause of the point system (truely reminds me of the psle scoring system).
This forum isnt perfect in many ways, some of which you mentioned. But surely too much to place the blame on the rep system alone.
Things like OT posts, TCSS, chatter are all going to happen one way or other as the forum grows. If you have more mebers, you have also more diverse interests. Im not even sure how many members are really into CS.

Think about it this way. Before the implementation of the point system there were also TCSS etc etc. I'm not saying that these sections or columns are redundant. In fact i find it interesting. Now think about the forum after the implementation of the pts system. U get threads running to 7 - 10 pages with a real interesting heading. Flip through 1-3 pages u start witnessing the one liner exchanges. Is this wat the forum was actually designed for? Php bulletin forums has much more usages rather than to function as a "sms" or pat my back buddy system.
Anyway these are just my thoughts ...

Boss,
I had gone through others forum but they dun awards pts like u do, but i can said that ur forum page is no 1 in sg....
Well, regarding abt the points, there's pros and cons to it.
some would be amusd by it and some would abuse it...
that's the kiasu syndrome in sg.
When u create a link exchange plaza, I dun think it will benifit you, it adds up to the traffic of your bandwith. Dun ever think of us paying for the forum like the straits times asia1.com.

One useful aspect of the REP PT SYSTEM is they indicate the credibility of the users, especially when it comes to exchanging FL contact etc.
It's like when someone post a new FL gem or somethk, the 1st thing i'll look is the person's rep pts. Its no gaurantee of anything, but as proven true, most of the dubious samster will have their pts quickly zapped.

Well this forum have been good with all the people providing FR and updated details from all the red light district as to at least know our targets.I really salute to all the bro's plus sammyboy for the walking(around geylang scouting),money(only gentlemen pays for sex),Public relation(building up communication with the gurls and the OKT) and plus this forum where we can discreetly do things quietly behind our wife,gf,friends, family without having guilt. So there i put it in words as a sincere quiet self-declared samster who go cheonging all on the basis of a good bonk and adventure. But Boss if we can have like this kind of web(www.sex141.com) with pics, area and damage i think those quiet choengster will have much FR for you guys to read up hehehehe....

sammyboyfor,
Points hv been deducted in many ocassions for replying to threads that is not sex-related. Its ok with me, I deserved it.
But it also clearly says that threads relating to PICTURES should be in the other section but nothing is done ? No warnings, no points deduction etc ?
I'm PM you regarding this but no reply so I think I should bring this out in the open for others to comment as well :-
Suggestion
How about letting the Picture section have a [reply] button ? User can comment, read the crappy fantasies (and reply).
You'll notice that people are resorting to posting their stories/pictures in the adult discussion section becos' they want people to REPLY.

To you it may not mean anything to others it means the world to them.

TCSS, flaming, piggybacking are but the byproducts of any bulletin forum, especially in the age of technology that hinges on faster and more convenient communication. The effects are magnified in a public forum where intelligent discussions on a subject matter are interspersed with garbage talk, squabbles etc. Let's just take it as a natural phenomenon

Dear Sammyboyfor,
I first join SBF for only one intention, that is to get more information ranging from FL sex to etc……….!!!
I wasn’t bothered by the point system at first, as I tell myself I only come here to gather information and why need to contribute if there are already so many bros contributing. When I started to request contacts from senior bros here. I face an uphill task as a newbie’s, if you do not reach their specific requirement or no contribution of thread posting, not enough points or no power, you are not considered. But not all sheep’s are black; I personally have met a few good bros who are willing to share. Isn’t this forum is all about “SHARING”?!? From than on I tell myself that I will by all means try to attain that power as soon as possible and when this power has been attain, “Well, I think I don’t have to elaborate on their uses, Right, "bros”
I understand where you are coming from with the introduction of the point system, because of the sensitivity of this forum, we all have to be discreet or people might get hurt, “I think I don’t have to mention what/who they are, Right bros,”!?!
Finally I am able to speak up and defend myself for the first time. Recently I have posted a story, Name “AIR FLING” in “Adult Discussion about sex” I will be very frank and don’t denies that by posting the story and getting the recognition of bros reading it, hopping they will like what I am doing and in return, up my points and soon gain power, so that I can retuned bros who have up my points and bros who have zap me with their power "If I know who they are." Correct me if I am wrong, “I believe that 80% of bros here wants their points being up, when they have done or contributed some help”?!? It is a status quote!?!
Perhaps I have done it in a wrong way and bros here are so unforgiving and their goes my points again.
This is my quote in the story I post.
“This story is not pen by me, have read a few stories from forum and tot why not contribute this story and see what respond will this story have from bros here. Kindly give your comment and if feed back on the story is good, will definitely post more for bros to enjoy, if bad than will not post again.”
This is what bro HayHot, wrote
First of all, it's NOT your story. And it’s NOT my story as well.
You basically CUT AND PASTE fome some website and then think bro here have to post praise abt you in order to post more?
Please. As I always said (Check out my other posts), if you want to CUT and PASTE Story from Website, do it at one short. Instead of pasting one bit by one by a day and expect to see comments/points flooding in. Or at least have the decency to paste the link where you copy from so that those bros that want to read all at one short can do so.
I din zap you, yet. But think you deserve it.
So my question to bro sammyboyfor,
Who is right, who is wrong???
My personal opinion is; it’s a chicken and egg issue; which come first???
Or perhaps it’s those with the power to Zap, are the ones ???
Lastly, maybe its time to relook in your point system issue?!? I personally would like to point out one, when you zap someone leave your name behind ?!? How fun is that, you zap me than I zap you, no ending story???

If you've read all the posts in this thread, you will realize there's no right or wrong when people get upped or zapped. It' just a matter of like or dislike and one's scope of influence and how you manipulate it. As to the point system debate, there are pros ad cons, so for now, just live with it.

I think some people here should just get a fucking life.
Basically, I believe those who cowardly zap points without leaving names or reason, or even fucking lame reasons, have low self-esteem or are bloody losers in real life too.
There was one thread where I, as a newbie, innocently (and kindly too) asked for clarification for one of the stories and kena zapped like nobody's business.
Then I came across another thread where one bro spotted one suspicious element in a 'true encounter' and tried to clarify and the thread starter kena zapped until jialat jialat.
So, not fair right? NNCB.
If I'm not wrong, the same thread where I asked for clarification - the thread starter MIA liao leaving lots of people camping for continuation up till today.
I say -
HUO KAI!!!

Well sam,
l am not sure if this idea has been suggested before, but l think that if possible, you could configure the forum to such a way that, whenever a person dissapproves of a post, meaning zaps another, his/her identity will be known by the receiver.
This will help discourage cowardly zaps and promote more reasonable dialogue. Zapping someone shoud not be a frivolous activity, and if you are willing to take the trouble to show your dissapproval by zapping, then you should be willing to identify yourself.
There are many passive readers, and those who actually take the trouble to post are always putting themselves on the line, with the risk of being zapped for the smallest reasons, simply for airing their own opinions. Like this particular post of mine... if bros here approve of my suggestion, some may up me, but then again, some may zap me for idea.

That would be a disaster. It started off that way but it ended up as WAR as everyone who got zapped started zapping back in retaliation.:p Members ended up being too scared to zap anyone.
I realised my mistake and quickly changed to system so that reputation points were anonymous. Members are now free to zap without fear of retaliation.
The system works great now. People get zapped but they don't know who the hell did it. It's like being backstabbed at work. :D
You have to realise that the reputation system was put in place in order to create an additional dimension of interaction amongst members. It may not be a perfect system but it has worked very well in making the forum a lot more political in nature and making it more akin to life in the real world.

Bro Sam I understand your principle of making this forum a microcosm of the real world. However, I wonder though if fidelity to the real world is all that valuable given that most of us get large doses of the real world anyway and come to online forums like yours for some escape into a virtual reality (you know, same reason why people watch movies and play video games). If I wanted to experience backstabbing, gangsterism and politics my day job would provide more than enough such realistic "entertainment". Why would I want to experience more of the same mundane crap online if (and I realize it is an assumption) it can be reasonably mitigated by web mechanisms? I for one think it would be more interesting to see/experience a social universe with a more novel set of "laws" not normally found in the real world. Just my random thoughts on the matter.
sammyboyfor
02-04-2008, 04:03 AM
There is ample opportunity to escape into virtual reality here. :D
For example, a nerd can become a hero here and someone with a 3" dick can become "Hugeharddick". The shy become outspoken and the cowards become bravehearts. :p
The reputation system merely gives others the opportunity to express their like or dislike towards another member and to form strategic alliances.

Do you consider this to warrant the same need to have a separate section too?

Since there is a FL 2, why not keep this new section for the OKT organised FLs. Then the original FL can be for the truly independent FLs. This will be more user and samster friendly.
