SINGAPORE: More than 46,000 people visited the official residence and office of the President of Singapore on Friday (Feb 20). The Istana was opened to the public for the Chinese New Year holiday.
One highlight of the visit was a peek inside the 144-year-old building. Visitors could view the rooms where state occasions are held. Outside, there were many performances by various organisations. President Tony Tan Keng Yam and his wife Mrs Mary Tan also met and greeted visitors.
One visitor, Santhi Subramanian, said: "My kids also liked it, they enjoyed the holiday today. I was waiting for this day, as it is not open on any other day."
Dawn Kraul, another visitor, noted: "We wanted to see something which was totally for Singapore, and a valued treasure of the people here, and it is only opened on public holidays. So, we are glad we are here."
Are they all from the PA?
