Yeah sure, maybe next time, right now I'm still at jakarta's airport waiting for my flight to batam, planning to cheong as soon as landed there lolz..

You are in, or i assumed from Jkt, and you are excited to cheong in Batam??
The only 1 thing I can think of Batam which is better than Jkt is the price, quality wise will very much be compromised.
When my kaki from Jkt (and they hardly want to come to Batam) visits Batam, they always complain about quality, even if willing to pay more also can't get Jkt standard.
Maybe you have your people in Batam with some special arrangement?
Try M1 if you want something like those night clubs in Jkt, everything is except for quality of the birds hahaha....

lower chance of bumping into familar face also can be a reason, feel more relax and safer, haha

Another thing i like abt pacific ferry is tat if travel in group worth it. Really save on taxi to nagoya. N u dont have typical sinkies queueing at e ferry exit even b4 it reaches e jetty. Clearance of passport is a breeze. No long queue like those u see at harbourbay n B.ctr.

Normally I change at this shop in Nagoya which also sells hand bags lah, female accessories lah... Located opposite Hotel Sari Jaya... Hope to get good rates lah

Try inside the malls. I usually change at Lucky plaza. There are many money changers and their rates are good. Also can always nego.

Some procedures if going to batam to stay overnite.

1) lapor polisi if you are staying in friends house/kost etc... It cost about 20K rupiah. and valid for 30 days of stay. If stay in hotel, the hotel people will report for you.

2) Carry enough cash. Always use 2 wallets. One for singapore dollars, and spare, and the other when you go out. In case you kena pick pocket or what so ever, you got spare.

3) If you keep a mistress there, espeically in kost or houses, be sure to have some marriage certificate. It is not difficult to make one. Just money only. TThe kampong have chiefs who look after the place, and if they want to play dirty, they can get you in trouble. Therefore, hotel is a better choice for most for fun. Some have rules that state that no non married couples can stay together.

Lastly, always take care of yourself and have a return ticket whenever you go. You never know when you need it.
