New Tune hotels open in Jakarta, Manila KUALA LUMPUR: Tune Hotels recently opened two new hotels in Pasar Baru, Jakarta, and Makati, Manila, to cater to the high demand among travelers for quality and affordable accommodation. The new hotel in Jakarta opened its doors on July 12 while the hotel in Manila opened on July 17. "The Tune Hotel Pasar Baru has 168 rooms and a special needs room, representing the global brand's third property in Indonesia. Tune Hotel Makati represents the second Tune Hotel in Manila and the fourth Tune Hotel in the Philippines," it added. Tune Hotels Group Chief Executive Officer Mark Lankester said Asia has seen a continued growth in air travel due to an increase in demand for low-cost travel options. "This trend will continue to grow and this is where hospitality providers would have to be more innovative in their offerings of products and services. Thanks for bros who chimed in on the condo buying idea. Looks like the consensus is it's not a good buy for investment, so I guess I'll just an eye on it for a while.
I'm just curious and need some clarification why some bros say "If it's for yourself, go for it...". If it's not a worthy investment, wouldn't the cash be better spent renting the same unit, instead of buying? Or is there some particular downsize of renting condo here make buying more desirable (even at the risk of depreciation) ?

Depends on on your ROI..
if you invest in rental lease, what are you getting out of the deal.. work? Business? etc? If you want it to value add your portfolio as an asset class, as I said what is the rental and capital yield per year? If you look at the situation of their economy, local economy depends largely on the OFW to pump money in.. Internal consumption cannot sustain such high level spending and talents do no stay within the country because of limited opportunities.. If there is no one staying back, then why would they even bother to buy? If everyone is buying an expensive condo, then there is an oversupply with a lack of demand.. Can you see in a reasonable time horizon of a medium to long term game, that it'll value add by at least 30 - 40%? If not you're just sinking funds in and exposing yourself to Forex risk, political turmoil and natural disaster.. you seem like you have too much money and don't know what to do with it hahaha. Don't use money to buy headache..
