Well, about Grab Taxi, the way these apps push their market share is by offering taxi's additional incentive (i.e. drive so many people in the first month, get additional bonus at the end of the month).
So drivers will be more willing to drive you into congested areas then they would without the app. However, my guess is that they haven't worked out the cost-benefit yet. So if he drove you into rush hour traffic, congested area he'd want more. I use grab taxi when I don't want to wait at taxi queue.

I use grabtaxi to get a taxi from Makati to airport. I don't even look at the meter anymore, I just pay p 400. no complaints.

I plan to use Grab Taxi if the yellow taxies disappeared on my next arrival ....
should try this.... as always in the best airport in Asia ... taxis vanish when a lot of pax land, the touts go into feverish pitches .... offering 1500 p to Makati ... and claim it is cheap ...

Just came back from Hyatt casino and pan pac casino (latter has no table games , only slots)
took the mrt south line, alight end of station. Chatting with a below average gal on the train, when she heard I was staying in shangrila, wanted my number. Lol. Took a cab but kena overcharged. Infact they reject locals to give me the ride. Saw edsa international along the way. Can just take the Jeep. Wasn't that far. Reached Hyatt, went to see the gals that are lined up..one word cui. Hahaha The Korean gals keep waving no and he was not pushy. Just want to share this story. Everyone is different, I only like chio bu and Max I can pay is 400-500 usd. Hard to find..

@decent02 - P150! even on the meter it's not that low. but then again my trip starts in salcedo village, maybe you are at the edge of Makati towards the airport. during rush hour, it can take 1/2 hour to get from salcedo to edsa.
plus, I usually end up talking a lot and the little extra I give is to pay them for listening to my bullshit.

Now in Manila, staying in Traders Hotel. Just a year break, and notice a new Club besides Hotel. Any Bro tried that? I did not go tonight maybe tomorrow night. Tonight I tried the VIP massage next to it. p980 include 1hr massage and full Body Scrub. p500 for HJ, which is really cheap.
