Most ppl take the taxi. If u want to be safe, I suggest 3 options:

1) Walk to the Mailinh taxi counter at the far right to buy a taxi coupon (not sure if they might have shifted, though.)

2) Walk outside the airport and turn to your far left to join the taxi queue. U can ignore all taxis until u see the Vinasun taxi (white). They are known to be more reliable.

3) Uber is also getting more popular these days. Download the app onto your phone before u land in VN.

So my trip covers two places, Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh.

Solo trip, arrived into a rainy morning and took bus 152 at 5000vnd to arrive at D1 bus station.

5-10mins walk from the bus station. Booked the standard room at sgd36. The room sits a double bed, 2 chairs and a table, separate toilet seat and bathtub. They did not have window. Bed was normal for sleep, aircon was good, however wifi could need some improvement. Great location. Another downside is safe deposit box seems to be locked and none of their staff can open it, so deposit my money with them along w my passport.

It was drizzling and pouring rain, first thing I did was to buy a bus ticket. Couldn't find the actual bus shop so got approached by one one of the travel agent. I already knew what I wanted, he provided professional service and based on that I bought the one operated by Kumho Samco at usd11(if you bought direct usd10only).

Off I went to my regular goldsmith shop and changed SGD to VND, the rate exactly same as XE currency, you will have trustable exchanges here and they provide many denominations of your request.

Bus duration as advertised is 5-6hours, however I took the bus at 10.30am and arrived close to 6.00pm so the actual total traveling time is 7.5hours, overall experience was good. The bus provided mineral water and wet tissues, couple of restroom stops and a lunch stop.
Your passport will be collected in advance for Vietnam immigration so as to speed up the process, however it is self appearance for the Cambodia custom.
