Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
This rule was intro this new season...is not new rule just that they brought back the old off-side rule which we grew up until the English FA change a few seasons ago and allow goals to stand if players in off-side position are not involved with the goal...

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
oh so now regardless as long as any player in offside position even if not directly involved, the goal will still be disallowed. But I really think they should do away with this rule of offside in the first place....it really discourage teams from playing attacking football...lousy team can get by simply by constantly this sort of game...

A point against Arsenal will suffice although 3 points will be awesome and a clean sheet is vital.

Also with offside rule, teams are able to take the relatively large surface area of a soccer field and convert it into a smaller area more easily managed by 11 men for defensive purposes. Offensive team will require a higher level of ball movement skill and thus resulting in a more entertaining game for the spectator. |

Correct me if I am wrong but I understand that the Americans did away with the offside rules for their game, are they still doing that?

An interesting fact brought up by the pundits...... Liverpool has NEVER lost a league game when they are playing on Monday nights...... I hope this team can maintain this record which goes back all the way to 1989. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Final score 0-0
Both sides had their chances to score. Mignolet did an excellent job to deny Arsenal scoring! Clean sheets 3 games in a row. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
If anyone think Pool will get 7 points from 3 opening 3 games at the start..with last season bad start nobody gave Pool any chance to be unbeaten and 3 clean sheet...

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Delighted for the result and the performance, first half we dominated thus far, second half we controlled the game and moved up essentially on the counter,
I'm very happy for most of the displays the lads were capable to afford over the entire game, my two picks for the MOTM accolade are samba boy Coutinho and Emre Can, they afforded a multidimensional performance, with many plays fulfilled, and so much steel and metres run around the pitch, Coutinho rattled a couple of woodwork and skim the goal in another couple of situations, Can led his teammates by example in the center of the park, massive performances also for James Milner and our two full backs - Clyne & Gomez(who is a revelation), they all put their body on the line especially in the second half and limited the consistent threat that Arsenal were arising down any flank, in the first and in the second half particularly! We take so many positives from this game(including the return of Lucas, hopefully he is still at Anfield next month & Sakho at least making the bench) and almost none negative - except perhaps Jordan Ibe who was poor(think Brendan would have gotten more joy by bringing on Danny Ings instead?), we even rediscovered a talented keeper in Mignolet, thanks to him we kept another clean sheet and despite we were kept at bay offensively and been a bit unlucky also, we could look at the next Anfield game and that after the internationals at Old Trafford with so much optimism! Well done lads and Brendan! We go again chaps! YNWA |
