Because in business, by trying to do what you suggested above make you look like a emotional person rather than a good businessman ... Put it this way, why not you make yourself much more successful than him and you can look down at him & your ex-wifey (by that time) ... more meaningful right? There are rise in numbers of men taking out PPOs against women these past years and I've now come to have slight negative views of the Woman's Charter as much as I have come to resent the notion that whenever we see a woman hit a man, the public assumption is that the man deserved it and society is such that we rightly admire women who survive abusive husbands. The Woman's Charter protects the rights of women in marriage and groups like Aware provide counselling and shelter for women who survive abusive relationships. Yet, our society seems to be deaf when it's men who need shelter from violence and blind to the idea that women can be abusive and men can be the victims. My advice to victims of abuse is try and stay strong and positive, there is a life after abuse, its just a matter, of how you deal with it, and how strong you can be. Abused as you are, please remember the golden rule that Men simply do not hit women. A man can walk away from a woman, but never hit her. Never resort to physical violence, we can never win. Never be afraid to take out a PPO. It's not a shame to do it; sometimes it's the only option available. Be free and safe |

Re: Good Friend who goes after your wife
It's wiser for you to accept that you are the LOSER and learn to start picking up the pieces in your life. I'm not trying to be mean to you. The smartest thing now is to lie low and not antagonise any of them. If she files for divorce, she will get half your assets, the custody of the kids and a monthly alimony from you. Guess who she's going to spend your money with? Guess who is going to scold and torture your kids in future (him)?
Take a step back man. Start hiding your assets to prevent your wife from getting a lot if she divorces you. Remember, even if she cheats on you, she will get the same amount. Infidelity doesn't disadvantage the woman in Shitty-pore. Whatever the issues are, do not get the kids involve or try to tell them how bad their mum is. Your kids may end up losing faith in marriage, becoming troubled teens or even see an abnormal marriage as a way of life. I'm speaking from personal experience. Once your assets are safe, then think about revenge. The way I see it, you want to 'fuck' the other guy back without covering your own ass first. If you want to post something on the internet, why not create a new nick that doesn't show your previous history? But i won't bother putting photos on the internet if I were you.

Not exactly true. If there is sufficient evidence of infidelity or marital abuse by the woman, a man can still win the case. An ex-colleague of mine engaged a PI, found her soiled panty stained with another man's semen, and gave concrete evidence of her being an incompetent mother and wife during their hearing. In the end, the judge awarded him custody of their son, denied her claim for maintenance, and denied her any claim of his assets including their matrimonial home which had been solely financed by my ex-colleague.

Re: Good Friend who goes after your wife
Actually the Women's Charter has been unfairly blamed for what is happening.
The Women's Charter does not stipulate that the wife will automatically be entitled to half of the husband's assets upon divorce. Section 112 of the Women's Charter provides as follows; 112. —(1) The court shall have power, when granting or subsequent to the grant of a judgment of divorce, judicial separation or nullity of marriage, to order the division between the parties of any matrimonial asset or the sale of any such asset and the division between the parties of the proceeds of the sale of any such asset in such proportions as the court thinks just and equitable. (2) It shall be the duty of the court in deciding whether to exercise its powers under subsection (1) and, if so, in what manner, to have regard to all the circumstances of the case, including the following matters: (a) the extent of the contributions made by each party in money, property or work towards acquiring, improving or maintaining the matrimonial assets; (b) any debt owing or obligation incurred or undertaken by either party for their joint benefit or for the benefit of any child of the marriage; (c) the needs of the children (if any) of the marriage; (d) the extent of the contributions made by each party to the welfare of the family, including looking after the home or caring for the family or any aged or infirm relative or dependant of either party; (e) any agreement between the parties with respect to the ownership and division of the matrimonial assets made in contemplation of divorce; (f) any period of rent-free occupation or other benefit enjoyed by one party in the matrimonial home to the exclusion of the other party; (g) the giving of assistance or support by one party to the other party (whether or not of a material kind), including the giving of assistance or support which aids the other party in the carrying on of his or her occupation or business; and (h) the matters referred to in section 114(1) so far as they are relevant. The test on division of matrimonial assets is what the court thinks is "just and equitable". Subsection (2)(a) to (h) are the factors in which the court considers in coming to a decision on what is just and equitable. If a couple is married for 3 years before they are divorced, and if the evidence shows that the wife was not contributing any money to the upkeep of the home, and she is often not around, out screwing other men, and does not fulfil her duties as a wife and mother. On the other hand, the husband is a responsible man, brings home the bacon, looks after the children, bathes them, feeds them, cleans up the house, does not fcuk around, it is entirely possible that the wife may get like 1% of the matrimonial assets and the husband gets to keep the remaining 99%. Technically speaking, the fact that the divorce is due to the wife's adultery is not relevant when it comes to division of matrimonial assets. However, it can be used to show that the wife contributed little in the marriage. Similarly for the husband, technically the fact that he had numerous affairs after marriage is not relevant when it comes to division of matrimonial assets. That however can be used to show that the wife is the poor suffering little woman, which in turn amplifies her contribution to the marriage as she had to live with the husband's infidelity for a prolonged period of time.

Re: Good Friend who goes after your wife
Quote:
Bro slider_72, I applaud your contribution for taking the time to dig through these legal appendices... But please note the KEYWORD is the COURT. And strictly speaking, in SG, the COURT is made up of only ONE deciding individual which is the judge. In other countries where the legal system is also tempered with mercy and empathy because of a body of jury members, our island's system works only on technicalities and by-the-book concerns. Because of this, our system is based on a Guilty-until-proven-Innocent system and is up to the lesser-advantaged individual (men in a divorce, accident driver not in right-of-way, accused defendant & etc.) to prove otherwise. Due to social perspective, the women (being the "weaker" sex) would already have won the upper hand in the first place even without the Women's Charter. All human beings have a level of biasness. No one is absolutely fair. So, basing the judgment on one sole person, you say leh?
