Looks : Just like the pictures The rest are less than SOP and is just like a dead fish waiting for you to finish your business. No service at all... Damage is US$100. Will not call again, not worth the $$$... |

Re: Russia / Kazakhstan
Soho Club is probably one of the best places for good night out at the weekend in Almaty. The place has a large seating area for diners, a bar area, and a small dance floor in front of a small stage. The style is a mixture of American and European, with the occasional splash of Russian influence. And this is also reflected in the menu. The food is good, although a little bit expensive even for Almaty. The clientelle is a mixture of locals and expats.
There is a small entrance fee (1,000 KZT, I think) and there is a wardrobe where you can leave your coat. However, on a busy night the wardrobe occasionally gets filled to capacity and you will have to keep the coat with you. And that can be a bit of a problem on busy nights as it is usually impossible to find a table to sit down at, so you will either have to carry the coat with you all the time or leave it somewhere unguarded. At the weekends the place starts buzzing from quite early on and keeps going until about 3am. There are usually two or three bands that alternate all through the night. Typically one band will start playing on the hour and play for about 45 minutes. There will then be a 15 minute break before the next band start to play their set. The music is usually pretty good, and the dance floor quickly gets filled up. Getting drinks can occasionally be a bit of a challenge when the place gets full. There are loads of waiters and waitresses, but unless you're at a table they are usually reluctant to bring you anything. And on a Friday or Saturday night you are unlikely to find a free table unless you have booked one in advance. So the alternative is to make your way to the bar and order your drink there. And that can be a challenge at times as everywhere tends to get pretty packed on a busy night. Just one tip: If you order a cocktail, make sure you ask for it by name. The price of a Screwdriver is for example considerably lower than the price they will charge you for a vodka and orange juice! Dress Code: There is no particular dress code.
