You see, most of us GL cheongsters live a double life. There is dark side of us that we always cover up, and only a few close frens & business associates will know about our dark side. Cheongsters come from a wide spectrum of social strata. There are entreprenueurs, millionaires, CEOs, doctors, taxi drivers, hawkers... (but for sure no politician lah!). All have one thing in common. They dont want their real identity to be known outside of GL circles. In their home, they are good fathers or siblings. In their work place, they are good bosses & colleagues. We are all good men !!!! That is what we want to present ourselves openly in the society.

So here comes an outsider from another world who wants to know how & what we hypocrites, chee-ko-peks and sickos eat & spend our "underworld" time in GL, mingling around with pimps, prostitutes, drug addicts etc. Surely we will become very alert all of a sudden. We dont really wish to cross path with the bright side of the world, not especially with the tertiary institutions where the future leaders of our society are in the process of being cultivated.

I am sure in his papers, TS has to insert some photos. Now, which cheongster will volunteer to have his photo taken and get seen and read by many students in later years?

From a long term perspective, we dont want to affect the future of our children by the dirty things we have done. Lets say one day a chee-ko-pek's son aspires to become a politician, and he goes for his election campaign. Imagine how embarrassed this candidate will be if all of a sudden Twitters, facebooks, Youtubes, Stomp etc carry news that his father is a GL chicken king! Our society is not ready to accept someone like Silvio Berlusconi yet.

Iceeyez can surely do a lot of work by himself. It is not really difficult. Money works very well in GL. Walk right into any whorehouse, tell the OKT he wants to spend an hour just talking with any off-duty WL for an honour. I am sure the OKT will be most glad to take the $80 & $150. Try 2831A or 1606 where the OKTs are really friendly.

Bro, there are many types of cheongsters and people in geylang. It's a vibrant close-door economy and society by itself if you examine it carefully.

And maybe u should interview the people who are there frequently.

Samsters only form maybe 10-20% of GL's populations.
There are the people u see hanging around all day in the coffee-shops.
There are the hawkers who work there, they serve customers as well as working ladies.
There are the OKTs, runners, punters etc
And of course there are the working ladies themselves.

And as your project is more on the urban landscape that is a red-light district, it is actually a better way to research it by actually staying there for a few days. See GL in the morning, day and of course at night. Observe and experience it for yourself. How do the people of GL work, live and play in this unique landscape.

I'm not going to be posting any pictures of anybody don't worry about that. I hope that people don't become worried because i'm going to expose them. Whenever i quote people in my paper i'll make sure their identity is kept secret. And there is no need to be posting pictures of any faces.

Thanks for your recommendation on which houses are good to interview. But according to bro xgenre and tauchiya, its near impossible to get to interview any okt or prostitute? So i'm really hoping any lao jiaos here with connections could maybe help set me up with an interview with a few WL? Coz i do have interviews with FLs already. I need the other side of the story to bring a fuller picture to my paper.

Yups thanks for your advice. Part of my paper is observing the day/night dichotomy. I don't think its possible for me to stay there for a few days though. I love quite near there so i do try to go there at different times of the day.



Anyways, hello to everybody else. Would really like to thank Bro Xgenre and Tsuchiya for bringing me around last week. Was quite busy writing down everything that i've learnt and had to meet up with my tutor so only writing this now.

It was indeed eye catching and informative and got much more information about geylang in general. About which geylangs are the streetwalker's territory, learnt where do FLs live/stay. All the synergistic activities around/in geylang.

Even got to interview 2 FLs. Was rather a strange experience for me though haha... Paisehed myself by approaching one and asking her "do u offer services not" coz i wasnt sure whether she was a FL or just some random girl sitting at the street side (now when i think about it, its really quite stupid coz obv no random girl will be sitting at the street side hor ) But got to learn abt a FL's daily habits, there they visit/buy stuff/eat etc etc.



Anyway, so yeah greatest hurdle now is wondering if anybody can possibly help out with setting up with an interview with a OKT or WL? Would appreciate it a lot a lot, if somebody could introduce me a bit more to the legal side of prostitution. Not talking about like the categories or where exactly, coz that i know, but anybody knows more into the lives of a WL?

1) Where do the FLs hide in the even of a expected raid? Coz from a lot standing along L 14/12/10/8 to absolutely zero within the span of a few minutes. Where do they disappear to?
