Prices wise, some products are similar to SG pricing. But some are much more expensive. LCD monitor is more expensive in HCMC. It all depends on where the product is from. Taiwanese and China products are cheaper because of import tax.

The price of assembling a PC is about the same as Sg. But the casing there are not very good, especially those less than 400k VND.

Small devices like USD drives, most of them are cheap because you will never buy those kind of brand in sg. Mainly from China and Taiwan.

Yesterday, went to buy a PC for my engineer.
Found out that the price of the computer is much more expensive than Sin.
What sgsnipe said is all true. Some brands I never heard B4 in Sin. In the end, I had chosed the computer parts for my engineer.

If you go to the arena, you can go to the PC and choose your own song. I think they have some retro song but just never play.

I think you get a DIY in Sin better.
It will be cheaper.
If you think it is bulky to bring from Sin to Viet, buy from Viet.

I thought internet phone charge is very affordable. Buy(assemble) it in Vietnam(HCMC?) is more practical. Can yahoo chat with webcam - cost very little.

Actually not that difficult to hand-carry the slim CPU with LCD screen on-board, saw 1 fella the other day hand-carried the whole monitor (old cathode tube type) on-board

Out of curiosity I did ask about the computers around Bui Thi Xuan street before, the full sets are not that cheap but the LCD screens seems to be quite close to the prices in Singapore.

A tropical low pressure system is expected to throw gusty 39-49kph winds and turbulent water at Vietnam’s central coast from Quang Ngai to Quang Binh provinces Tuesday night.
The storm was 330km east of the Thua Thien Hue coast at 1:00pm Tuesday (Vietnamese time), and is forecasted to move northeast at 10-15kph over the next 24 hours, said the Central Hydrometeorological Center.

The Central Steering Board for Flood and Storm Prevention local agencies to bring in fishing boats and evacuate oil rigs in affected areas.

Singaporean beauty queen to join Charming Vietnam gala



A Singaporean beauty queen will attend Thanh Nien’s 13th annual “Charming Vietnam” gala to be held in Singapore this August.
Miss Chinatown Singapore 2006 Leow Cai Ling will participate in a fashion show at the event, which runs August 18-19.

Ling will be accompanied by Nagis Abu Masawwir, a famous Singaporean model.

The Singaporeans will share the stage with Vietnamese pop stars such as My Linh, Dam Vinh Hung and My Tam as well as overseas Vietnamese singers Tuan Ngoc and Huong Lan.

Twenty-three Vietnamese beauty queens, including Miss Vietnam 2006 Mai Phuong Thuy, will also participate in the show.

Organizers have invited several other overseas models, singers and artists, hoping to boost cultural exchange among Vietnamese and foreigners.
