Both bros are not wrong. If the ger go on 21 day pack, after finish, the menses will come, but some people take 28 day pack, if you take continuosly, the menses will not come unless you stop taking.
One main reason doctor recommend pill is that, those on pill have lesser chance of contracting cervical cancer ..

I donno about pack thingy, but for sure once you stop pill, your period will come within a few days. That means you can actually manipulate when the period come. I suppose, maybe the doctor suggest not stopping it for too long. The pill actually stop ovulation and also the uterus wall, thats why no menses, bcos nothing to flush out ...

By pack mean that the pills come in packs. Each pack is 21 pills to last for 4 weeks exactly. 1 pill to be taken each day from day1 to day21. Then rest and no more pill from day 22 to 28 during which the period will come. Regardless of whether or not the period is over or still continuing, after day 28, meaning on day29 start a new pack - so day29 is a new cycle again as day1. To have 100% safe protection against pregnancy, the girl has to follow this cycle and cannot miss a single day of pill to be taken at the same time each day. And the break between each cycle is only 7 days. If you break longer than 7 days, then for the first 2 weeks of starting on new pack it will not be 100% pregnancy safe. BTW, for a girl starting new on taking pills, the first 2 weeks are still not safe. Specialist suggestion is to take pill for maybe 9 cycles to 12 cycles (9 to 12 months) = 9 to 12 packs of pills. Then rest the body and totally dont take any pills for the next 6 to 9 months so body can detox. Then start again after that. This way, long term side effects wont set in. If have, will be short term side effects which varies from individuals.

Oh, and I forgot to add: it is no good if the girl continues taking the pill non-stop past the 21days. This will really mess up the internal hormanal balance and cause problems to the girl. Some girls who did not read instructions nor listen carefully just keep taking the pills without the 7-day break in-between end up got hormonal imbalance. So, must stick to the 21day pill 7day break cycle for best results.
