I hope visitation to thai master is not outside of Sg.Golok as most of the drive by shootings, ground,bike and car bombs happened outside of the town.

Nearest hotel is Genting Hotel with wet market behind it. Bypassed walking through the wet market, is Marina Road with Marina Hotel. And opposite Marina Hotel is Taria Hotel, further on the same road to your right is Merlin Hotel ( that kena bombed once ). Discos in all the above three mentioned hotels but the better ones are in Genting and Marina Hotels. Disco in Taria Hotel is not so good. Merlin is a cheaper hotel, no disco inside. There are bars on Marina Road. The other more better hotels are Venice Hotel, centered in the middle of town, plus Garden Hotel which is on the same road where most of the chicken houses are located. The chicken houses in Sg.Golok goes by numbers whereas in Dannok, the houses or ktvs goes by business names. I stayed in all the above mentioned hotels but Garden Hotel rooms .... very small. Good swimming pool in Garden Hotel. There is a road behind Garden Hotel whereby there are bars where Thais go and drink with chickens available ( you are an outsider, so better you no drink in these small rather sleazy bars ).

For Chicken house, from Venice Hotel , turn right, at first intersection, pls turn right. The chicken house number 69 is on the middle of the road and is located on your right. Pls ask the okt what number is the house, as there are a few houses there. In number 69, if you do not like the chickens, you can go out, there are no pushing/pressure from the OKTs.

Good restaurant and an ok swimming pool in Genting Hotel. With regular ktvs, barbers, massage parlours, snooker, disco....including ladyboys show in the disco, ladies to keep you company in the ktvs.....you can have the fun in Genting Hotel. Marina Hotel facilities are the same as Genting except no swimming pool. And a high floor sky lounge on the top floors in Marina Hotel where Russians ( young ones at that time ) danced while you ogled at them. And ST with them was RM 600. Now maybe, no Russians there.

Avoid all motorbikes asking to pick you up.

Avoid all OKTs on motorbikes.

Take motorbike taxis that the driver wears a motorbike taxi vest with numbers on the vest.

Most OKTs are real nasty, so be very careful.

overall it was a mixture of both good and bad experience.
went there last friday, 3D2N, burn 2k @@
mayb next time goin should get some1 experience to tag along ,hehe

in short, screwed 2 thai, 1 chn... place visited: HB and wonderland and KPK ...

Yes, bring RM.

Even Thai immigration "accepts" RM 1 " entry fee " into LOS if you come in from Bukit Kayu Hitam.

If coming in with Tiger airlines and from Hatyai, you may need some Thai baht as Hatyai may not so readily accept RM as in Dannok.

Bro Yokosi....so helpful of you, care to bring this old newbie around or not?

Anyway Hatyai will not accept RM unless the RM is much higher than Bahts then they will accept as to one to one....until the late 90's, they stopped accepting RM.

I am a newbie but an old man so called old newbie loh! I am like a lost kitten in Hatyai or Danok, can show me around or not at least in Danok...pleaseeee!
