Housing, wedding .. etc are the basic necessities mah ...

If you want to get married..better don't keep thinking of divorce...else better don't married and just stay in a bf/gf relationship...so much safer...

After what I have gone through I am glads that I have make the decision to walk off. We can sacrificed many things for a women that we love but not to be treated like an idiot.

Nope the initial discussion was with my girl friend and the family (father and elder sister). As i talk to them and even explain to the family my girl friend do understand and she speak English but not so good. The problem is during the discussion they are asking for 500K baht but after 2 weeks when I back in Singapore they change the decision. The decision came from my girl friend email giving me only option 1 & 2. If I don't meet either one of the option that it as she want to end the relationship.

Times have really changed...... I can still remember when I had my first encounter with Thai marriage culture. Sometime back in 1985/86 my unit were undergoing a course at Satthahip and one of my men got along very well with the female liaison officer assigned to our unit..... they both fell in love and decided to get married. Our boy got himself a good catch as she was a university graduate, an army leftenant and came from a good family with military background. Her father & uncle were high ranking military officers (Colonel & General) and her 3 brothers were all officers in the military as well. Our boy was a regular in the CDO and was only into his 2nd year so he did not have much savings...... he was worried about the costs of marrying her and was hitting us to back him financially for the event.

A few of us went to meet the bride's family and helped to discuss about the marriage..... money was not an issue with them and they only asked for a token sum as sinsot..... and they covered the expenses of the wedding as well except for some compulsory must-haves which the groom has to bear responsibility according to their tradition.

All in all..... our boy spent the grand total of only SGD$4K for the entire wedding.

I am shocked at the amount families are asking as sinsot nowadays for their daughters' marriage.

Before marriage, you can spend all the money you have in your pocket on this girl you love, however, if you are going beyond what you can do, it will be too much. If she is moonlight ROBBING you.then ask her FO,you will suffer more if you give in now.

Many sb marry the singapore man thinking they very rich, can buy LV can buy flower for her. But after marriage, she get to know he is in big debt la, credit card bursted, she will just packed her bag and go back.

I do buy things for my sb, clothes etc etc(but all normal brand like F21,H&M), a Iphone 6plus, but her current iphone 4 use until spoil liao then she ask for me for 1. Sometime she even will ask me to hang flower for her (sometime she pay sometime i pay la) just for her to hit her target. She promise me she will work 1 more contract and we will get marry.
Well, not all girls in HFJ are easy girls, i am sure she is not 1 of those, I know her for almost 2years. Being together on and off, sometime i even have to go from sg to jb to kl to bkk.believe it or not We had spent many nights together but never had sex before.

We are both in our late 20s. Til today i cant figure out whether her feeling to me is real or not, some of my friends like her, some don't. Well, it is still down to my decision, i have nth to lose, together with her had been the cheapest then i was with other gfs.she had nv ask me for cash to send home or whatever.

And abt the drowy, she said" give whether amount you feel comfortable with will do. I am marrying you to who you are, not selling myself to you" felt a sense of comfort.

BUT, now no one will know abt our future, to me, just see what god can do, Marriage Divorce,Poor,Rich, Death,Materialistic is toooooo common in this 21st Century, there is nothing to be scare about anymore. Just live your life to the fullest and don regret.

Dunno what is the amount u will feel comfortable... maybe 1k, 10k, 20k SGD.

Everyone can promise a heaven before marriage

. U dun need money to promise... no legal bonding to just say, "no need this, no need that".

If u understand Thai culture, this is easily say than done unless she treats her mother/elder bro as dead. She works in entertainment, guess her family is poor, thus no or little education and very traditional Thais. She works because of her family, end of the day, she will still listen to her family.

As a foreigner, the only bargain chip u have might be she was married and maybe with kid. Anyway chok dee.
