Man dies after fight with wife over $7.50

IPOH - RM20 (S$7.50) does not seem worth fighting over, but an elderly couple battled each other with parang and blunt objects after the wife accused the husband of stealing the money.
And now, the man has died from his wounds.

The man, 73, and his 66-year-old wife had gone at each other in their Sungai Siput home on Aug 20. It was said that the wife had also poured a bowl of hot oil on him during the fight.

He ended up being warded at the Taiping Hospital with serious injuries.

His condition worsened at about 3am yesterday and he was transferred to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here, where he died at about 2.30pm.

The wife had not been warded and had gone home after being treated. The couple had earlier refused to get into the same ambulance, so their youngest son had to send his mother to the hospital.

Police arrested her yesterday.

The woman had allegedly wanted to buy chicken drumsticks when she found that the money was missing from her purse.

Sungai Siput OCPD Supt Azman Salim said the incident was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
