The teenage blogger remains in remand ahead of his trial, which starts on Thursday, May 7.
SINGAPORE: Teenage blogger Amos Yee's challenge of the conditions of his bail was dismissed by Justice Tay Yong Kwang in a bail hearing on Wednesday (May 6). He remains in remand.
The 16-year-old's lawyer had argued that the bail conditions, which forbid him from uploading or distributing any content online until his case has concluded, amount to a gag order.
However, the argument was dismissed by the High Court ahead of Yee's trial on Thursday and Friday. The bail conditions remain unchanged, with bail set at S$30,000.
Blogger Roy Ngerng and Yee's mum, Madam Mary Toh, were among those present at the bail hearing review on Wednesday.
The blogger faces a charge of making offensive or wounding remarks against Christianity and another of circulating obscene imagery.
Yee published two blogposts on Apr 29, in violation of his original bail conditions, a move which saw the bail raised from the original S$20,000, while family and youth counsellor Vincent Law discharged himself as his bailor.
