This horrifying video shows the moment a three-year-old boy is brutally beaten by a man - and a number of pedestrians walk by ignoring the attack.
The clip shows the youngster sweeping the floor in front a shop when a man suddenly appears and kicks the boy to the ground, before repeatedly stomping on his victim's head.
The People's Daily Online confirmed the incident occurred outside an eatery in Yan’an City in Shanxi province.

The boy is seen sweeping the floor outside a shop in Yan’an City when the man kicks him to the ground

Local authorities have confirmed the suspect has been apprehended and is undergoing psychiatric evaluation.
The short clip, which was filmed at around 8pm on May 4, was posted online today.

In an assault which lasted 37 seconds, the man brutally stomps on the boy's head before striking him with the victim's brush.
And shockingly, during the assault, a number of people walk by and do not help - until eventually, a man from a nearby shop runs out and restrains the attacker.

Shockingly, the assault goes on for 37 seconds, ignored by pedestrians until a man come to the boy's rescue

Officials from the Luochuan County People's Hospital said the boy arrived at the hospital on May 4 with evident head injuries, but that they have yet to ascertain internal injuries.
The child’s parents told reporters that they took their child to Xian for further examination.
His doctor said that the boy was conscious with an evident head injury but was unwilling to give further information on his condition.
'If the hospital in Xian finds no big problems then he will return to us,' said the boy's parents.
Yan’an City Public Security Bureau officials told reporters today that the boy has suffered a fractured skull, but is conscious and has been sent to Xian for further medical assessment.
The suspect is under arrest and is undergoing psychiatric evaluation in Xian.
