A squabble between two Chinese elementary school children has left two adults with slash wounds after it escalated into an armed conflict between their parents.

The incident, which took place earlier this month in Yulin, northwestern Shaanxi province, saw five knife-wielding men attack one of the children’s parents, slashing the father four times and beating up mother, the Chinese Business View reported.

The mafia-like attack started after the victims’ son fell out with one of the attacker’s child. The two boys attended the same elementary school and often played together as they lived in the same residential complex.

The children would squabble occasionally, but tensions grew between their parents after the mothers started insulting each other’s son because of their children’s arguments.

On the day of the attack, the two mothers had a fierce quarrel and called their husbands to the scene.

When the victim, surnamed You, hurried, he was shocked to find that the other child’s father, surnamed Xu, had brought four armed men with him and were beating up You’s wife.

When the gang saw You, they rushed towards him and slashed him four times. You’s wife suffered several bruises.

“I never expected that they would attack us over our children’s squabble,” You said.

The case is being investigated. No arrest has been made.
