An unverified video, which allegedly shows a deadly air-strike by the US Air Force against Iraqi government troops, has emerged.

The unconfirmed footage was obtained from a local source in Iraq by RT’s Ruptly video agency.

A high-ranking Iraqi MP told Sputnik news agency earlier that over 20 Iraqi soldiers had been killed and 30 injured in an air-strike carried out by the US military.

The incident allegedly occurred near the town of Al-Naimiya in the Fallujah province after the Iraqi troops freed “a strategically important area” from the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) militants, Hakim al-Zamili, head of the Iraqi Parliament’s Security and Defense Committee, said.

However, Iraqi Army's Command Centre in capital Baghdad, said that air the strike caused fewer casualties and happened due to miscommunication and bad weather.

“We [Iraqi Forces Command] had demanded aerial support from the international coalition air force. The airstrike was launched without an update on the advance of the Iraqi forces and the coalition forces were unable to distinguish between the fighters on the ground due to bad weather,” it said.

According to Iraqi military, one Iraqi army commander was killed and nine other servicemen injured in the airstrike.

A Pentagon representative told RIA Novosti they are looking into the report.

At least 30 Iraqi soldiers were killed and 20 others injured in US air strike, Hakim al-Zamili, the head of Iraqi parliament's Security and Defense Committee said.

"Thirty soldiers from the Iraqi Army's 55 brigade were killed and 20 were injured in a US airstrike on the town of al-Naimiya in the al-Fallujah province," al-Zamili's statement obtained by Sputnik reads.

US-Led Coalition Against Daesh Launches 18 Airstrikes in Syria, Iraq
The politician stated that he demanded "the [Iraqi] prime minister to conduct an investigation into the airstrike against the 55 brigade, which had previously had huge success in the fight against Daesh terrorists."

Daesh (ISIL, ISIS), the international terrorist organization, is in control of vast territories in Iraq and Syria. A number of ISIL cells, with local insurgent groups pledging allegiance, are also known to operate in Libya, Yemen and other territories across the Middle East and North Africa.

Baghdad will go to court over a US airstrike, head of the Iraqi parliament's security and defense committee Hakim Zamili told Sputnik following the incident.

"This is very serious and I have asked the prime minister to launch an urgent investigation… We will go to court over this crime, there will be a hearing," Zamili said.

According to the lawmaker, the number of casualties may increase.

"The number of victims may increase, many were seriously injured and have not yet been taken to hospitals," Zamili added.

Meanwhile, Pentagon has denied alleations.

Claims of a US airstrike killing more than 20 Iraqi soldiers are not accurate, US Defense Department spokesman Maj. Roger Cabiness told Sputnik on Friday.

“This is not true,” Cabiness said when asked to confirm reports of the incident.

Over 30 Iraqi Soldiers Killed in US Air Force Strike, 20 Others Injured
According to the lawmaker, over 20 soldiers were killed and over 30 sustained injuries. "The number of victims may increase, many were seriously injured and have not yet been taken to hospitals."

Zamili's statement acquired by Sputnik on Friday claimed a US airstrike west of Baghdad killed 30 Iraqi soldiers and injured 20 more.

It read that the killed and injured soldiers were from the Iraqi Army's 55th Brigade in the city of al-Naimiya in the province of al-Fallujah.

US Defense Department spokesman Maj. Roger Cabiness disputed the statement as untrue in comments made to Sputnik.
