Hi everyone, I'm planning for a trip down to the island of Batam next week, leaving on the evening of the 17th and returning on the 19th.
Are there any bros that are planning to go around this date as well? It's been about 2 years since I last went there, and the past 3 trips were actually more of a reluctant tour guide/bodyguard for my friends, which is why there really wasn't much to write about. Assuming there is no one for me to meet up and it's going to be a solo trip for me, I've got a few questions that has not been answered beyond what was stated in the past 200 pages, which is as far as I got before my dyslexic condition made me feel sick. No, not you guys; all your input, even if somewhat not relevant (e.g. about purchasing a house!) is quite an interesting read!
1) Which would be the harbour I would want to go to if I want to head to where the action is? I forgot! I remember there were 2 harbours, so if any kind bros out there could tell me which one to use, it would be much appreciated. I did read a few book in advance, is it for saving, or just to ensure a seat?
2) I used to book hotels from the counter at the Batam harbour, but I'm guessing it's now cheaper to book hotels in advance from websites like Agoda?
3) My first choice of hotel would be Formosa, which has always been the case since years back, but perhaps I might try Pacific Palace or iHotel, just to see how it is like. But is that generally a good idea especially when I'm going to get a girl? My experience with other hotels is Merlion hotel (they pronounce it as merlien and not how we would), and Goodway hotel (I think, it had a very fancy lobby, but I felt that the room itself is comparable to Formosa at best and theres a swimming pool).
4) When it comes to taxis, from the harbour, I would usually take the first driver that speaks enough English for me to communicate. But generally, the price he quotes to take me around is quite silly, and those at the hotel/drive by are actually cheaper, which is what I would go for.
5) Girls, I would get the resulting taxi driver to drive me to the places, agreeing on a price before of course. As such, I really can't remember any of the places names (dyslexia probably at work there), but I can remember how it looks like. I know, my name is probably Robert the moment I stepped onto Batam soil.
6) I'm guessing A1 is still around, with the mention of a pretty chinese seafood boss, I've tried the foodcourt very near the harbour, but I felt that A1 is so much better.
7) I remember a bro asking, but no one really answered; are there any discos which do not play the super fast techno like Pacific does? Perhaps R&B or anything other then heart-attack inducing techno!
8) If anyone has been to Jurassic Park, is it still around? The pub of course

Actually I also going on 17/02/2012. Maybe come back on 18/02/2012 or 19/02/2012 don't know yet. But I normally go alone lah because I little bit different from other people.
First is I am old man lah, so I go disco, only thing is to see can get cewek. But if got cewek already, then I don't want to go disco. Because nothinh except people is group, very loud music, no band, etc. If got cewek already, I go KTV is also waste time. Because I don't sing, the sound system no good, not much songs, place also not like Singapore KTV standard. So maybe this time, I go look for pub with live band type.
Second is I think I the spoil market type lah. I happy, satisfied will pay lah. Not rich hor, but just want to be happy. Bargain only little bit.
But maybe I can meet you dinner, I blanjah, no problem.

I don't mind paying a reasonably higher amount for a hassle and trouble free experience. But as some bros pointed out about how it could potentially spoil the market, I wanted to find out more.
I will be heading over there in the evening after work, just to have a nice meal at A1 and depending on the hotel I book eventually, I'll head to a nearby place just to have a beer or two to unwind and relax. I doubt I would get an FL, though the last time, I ended up with a PR from Jurassic Park in my room (not paid sex); I doubt I will get that lucky twice!
I can't sing and watching/hearing people sing can only keep me amused for a few minutes, I find Pacific a necessary evil to get the girls in a better mood (assuming they want to go) and those with live band type sometimes quite dangerous; That Jurassic Park place I went to? My friend and I ended up having 8 jugs of beer with about 6 being wiped out by the band. I forgot how much it was in rupiah, but I do remember it was more or less equivalent to 160 SGD.
But we had fun, I had that PR girl literally walk up to me and ask if she could come to my room, and everyone woke up with splitting hangovers that were cured with a nice Bah Kut Teh.
So, our tastes might be more similar then you think, activities wise. Once I confirm my details, I'll PM you

I go afternoon. I touch down in Singapore about 2pm plus. From there my kaki fetch me go direct to take ferry. So I think by time I reach Batam, the time is 4.00pm to 5.00pm.
I haven't got Singapore or Indon SIM card yet. I touch down, my kaki will give me one. When I get, I sms you if I got you number.

No, still Kaha cheaper. (they have a counter at batam centre)

if you more concern on food and joint distance. take Formosa.

Sometime I pity the cewek lah. Most of time I go Batam only 1 night spend $400 to $500. Kan ni nia, also go alone, surely blanjah the cewek lor. Come back always give balance rupiah to cewek mah.
Also the papi recommend me good cewek mah. So I bring him go along eat lor. If not, me and cewek alone cannot eat so much mah.

I got 1 close kaki last time never fail to create hassle for people.no matter where he cheong,msia,batam,Bangkok he have to tour around the whorehouse in 360 hrs before he gets a girl imagine the time and transpot wasted with him and sometime kana fcuk by the mamasan or okt damn embarrassing he can even visit the same place 2 times in few hours and left empty.very often those people will ask me your friend ah?u accompanying hime to chose wife?i also damn paiseh.when I cut contact with him after some incident he's basically begging me to go cheong with him cos his kaki all scare of him and I'm the only one that tahan him the longest!
