RVP valuation is 30m but Arsenal have to reduce price because he can walk away on bosman next year and they get $0 for him.

I dunno who Tello is but Walcott is overated imho. BR is still trying for Clint Dempsey.

Hope he gets his man.

Cristian Tello was originally from the Barcelona B team, otherwise known as Barcelona's reserve team. He did play in the Champions League last season if I remember correctly, as well as a handful of league games. He can play on the wing and as a forward as well.

I don't think Walcott is overrated, I feel that Arsene Wenger often use him as a substitute thus he is unable to influence the game as much. I quite like him as a player. He is still young, only 23 years old, will be a very good long term investment if Liverpool does eventually sign him. He has got some serious speed in him and will definitely strengthen our problematic right wing position. 11 goals and 13 assists in 46 appearances (also the most appearances he has ever made in one single season since joining Arsenal) last season for Arsenal as a winger, not overrated in my opinion. In fact, I think he has done pretty well.

Not sure why Brendan Rodgers wants to sign Clint Dempsey, when we already have 7 central midfielders (8 if Sahin signs on loan from Real Madrid). He is 29 years old, Liverpool at most can only get 2 or 3 years out of him if he does eventually sign. His situation is very similar to that of Robin van Persie's, just that he is less injury prone. Also, Clint Dempsey primarily plays in a central attacking position. If Brendan Rodgers employ his favoured 4-3-3 formation, where will Dempsey fit in to bring the best out of him?

Side track a bit: just as I type this, official news coming in that Arsenal has confirmed that Robin van Persie will sign for Manchester United on a £24million deal.

How about Xabi Alonso? Seems like he doesn't want to sign a contract extension with Real Madrid. RM wants to sell him since he only has 2 years left on his contract. Xabi may be coming back to Liverpool. It will be great if he is back for a lowered price. Then we will have backup and rotation options for Lucas's position.

You didnt get my point! proven goal scorer like him also nobody will buy at high price but let alone an unproven player that can easily fetch 15mil. That shows not many good players like to play for us. This is what i called a desperate buy!

Love to have him back! one of the great midfielders! We missed his passing shots!Btw, i see Enrigue"s standard drop a notch compared to when he first came to Anfield!

Yeah! Despite his passing ability, Xabi remains a defensive midfielder who sits in front of the big 4 and breaks up attacks with timely tackles. How unique is that? He is also not injury prone and seldom miss games.

I get your point. I recalled reading an article about this a few days back. Joe Allen is not a desperate buy. He is expensive because he is young, up and coming, isn't in his last year of contract and he's British. If you consider what we paid for Jordan Henderson, the price for Joe Allen is more reasonable.

Brendan Rodgers buying Joe Allen is different from Kenny Dalglish buying Jordan Henderson. The difference is Brendan Rodgers has already been working with Joe Allen for 2 years. The manager knows what he is buying and isn't relying on personal observation or scout reports. Let's wait and see. Joe Allen might turn out to be a bargain.

Very well explained..... I too believe Joe Allen is a bargain.
He could well be worth more than £35m by the end of this new season.

I admire your optimism Eventhough you have left Anfield! you could be getting close to 2 mil if he is really worth that much by the end of the season! You ought to get them to put in this clause in the contract! Btw, 15 mil for a young player is a bargain?

Liverpool usually have the habit of announcing transfers in the evening, same for the Borini and Allen deals.

Interestingly, Pool would be playing 3 of their toughest rivals @ home, all within the space of one month!

Frankly, I dread our fate being decided so early in the season - these 3 games may well define our season if we could mount a serious challenge for the Top 4 (ok, im not aiming for the title at this point).

If Pool can WIN all 3 matches, that'll be a tremendous booster to kickstart our season. Really hope we will not be so wasteful like last season which we dropped so many points @ home! Im not asking for the moon - 7/9 points fr these 3 games would be good reason enuff for us to smile!

Anything disastrous like 3/9 or less, it could spell another difficult season for us! Don't forget, we'll have away games to Everton, Chelsea and Spurs after that.

The first few matches are indeed tough . I'll be happy as long as we don't lose any games.

Don't know how reliable is the following article .
