A Narrow Escape At A Local Hotel

This incident happened in the eighties. I was working as a room service waiter at a Orchard Road hotel. As a room service waiter, my job is to serve food and beverages to the guests in their rooms. I remembered I was on the afternoon shift (3-11pm) and that time when I received the order from the cashier, it was already 10.30pm. Looking at the order, I was happy because normally if guest order steak and wine, chances of getting a big tip will be very high.I quickly went to do the necessary procedures and when the food is ready, off I went to the room.

" Ding Dong "....." Room service "......I shouted loudly. After a while the door opened. I saw a burly ang mo with a thick moustache standing near the door.

Me : Good evening sir. Sorry to keep you waiting.
Guest : It is okay. Come in.

I then went into the room and placed it on the coffee table and turned around. What I saw really shocked me !!! The guest was double locking the door & hooking up the chain !!! Normally guest (especially female alone) won't even close the door but why is he even double locking it ? Sensing something was not right, I quickly took out the bill in my jacket........

Me : Sir, are you paying cash or charging to your room ?
Guest : (approaching me, took the bill and touch my shoulder)....cash please. Btw,what is your name?
Me : ( I stood there frozen )....Errr....my name is xxxxxxx but most of my friends called me xxx
Guest : Wow. that is a nice name. Tell me, do you have any girlfriend?
Me : No, I do not have one yet.

By this time, his hand was rubbing my shoulder and at the same time giving me a kind of look. I was feeling very uncomfortable. I stepped back away from him and said : "I am sorry sir, I really got to go now because there are still many orders waiting for me downstairs." He was hesitant at first but later said : " So what time you knock off tonight ? Can you come up to my room and have a drink with me?" By this time, I realized I really have to bullshit my way out of the room, judging from his tone of voice and not so happy face reaction. I then quickly said : " Sure why not? In about 15 minutes time I will be off-duty. Tell you what. I go down now and report to my manager that I need to go off earlier tonight. Then I will shower and changed into some fresh clothes and then I come and drink with you, ok ?".....

The guest stared at me and said : " You are lying to me, arent you? xxx ? " Realizing he was not so convinced, I then said again : " Of course not. I too also like to drink you know, especially if it is free." I then hurried him to pay me the bill and was given a $5 tip. After he had unlock all the latches, I quickly stepped out of his room but not quickly enough to have one of my butt squeezed by him. I jumped a bit as I was totally unprepared that he would do such thing. He then smiled at me and said " See you later, xxx." I then went down to my department but I didnt dare to tell anyone as it was such a embarrassing thing.

The next day I was on the afternoon shift again. Late in the night, the cashier told me that there was an order and the guest requested only me to serve him. I took a look at the room number and realized that it was the same guest last night. I quickly told the cashier to call and inform the guest that I left already as I am not feeling well. The cashier passed the message to the guest and asked whether can another waiter serve him instead.He refused and cancelled the order......come to think of it, if that guest changed room and told the cashier to make sure I was the one serving him without letting me know, I dread to imagine what will happened to me this time....... it was indeed a narrow escape for me ... ahem ... and my ass too .......end of story......thanks for reading.

A Supernatural Story In A Local Japanese Restaurant

This a real supernatural story that happened in a Japanese restaurant in Tampines during the 7th month Ghost Festival a few years back.
I worked in this restaurant for about 3 years. The first 2 years we always have a praying session during the 7th month but for some reasons, 2 weeks into the 3rd year we still have not done any praying session and that is when things started going wrong in the restaurant.

I remembered it started in the afternoon. A young couple walked into the restaurant and chose a two seater table near the entrance. They look fresh & energetic. After ordering the food, they carried on chit-chatting. A while later I was surprised to see the lady in a unusual posture. Her arms was on the table and head was resting on it. By this time most of the staff & customers have noticed it too and were looking at them. The man was talking to the lady and suddenly he raised his hand for service.Being the first one to notice it, I quickly approached his table.

Me : Yes sir. How can I help ?
Man : Errrr....I am sorry. I think my friend is not feeling well. Is it possible to pack my food and get me the bill now too?
Me : Sure. I will get it done straightaway, sir.

After all was done, the couple left the restaurant. About an hour later, another couple walked in and chose the same table. After a while, we were shocked to see the same thing happened again but what shocked us more was that it happened on the same seat and once again it was a lady !!! News then filtered into the kitchen and soon the head chef came out to the dining hall to see what actually happened. After discussing with the manager, they realized that they have not done any praying session yet and decided to do one that night after the restaurant closed but unfortunately it was too late oreadi as more unusual things happened that night ......

They also both agreed not to seat any more customers on that table to prevent any further incidents and decided to seal off that table, giving the excuse that water is leaking from the ceiling above.That night it was not only very busy but also very chaotic too !!! The restaurant run on a POS system, meaning all orders have to be keyed into the system and kitchen side will automatically received it. There are a total of six printers in the kitchen each representing different kinds of food. Once ready, runners will bring out the food and served it to the respective tables.Not long later, the head chef came out again to speak to the manager. It turn out that many food orders that came into the kitchen belong to empty tables or customers that claimed that they did not ordered that particular food !!! The manager then went into the system and found out that the password that used to key those food belong to a captain that resigned a few months ago & the other one belong to a Malaysian captain who is on leave in her hometown !!! Later that night during our praying session, the head chef prepared some grilled & deep-fried items as these are all the unexplained orders items that came into the kitchen that night. Thank God.....the next day everything was back to normal again. A few months later I left the restaurant for greener pasture ...hehee.....end of story......thanks for reading
