I then went to casa, this place is more like viet style disco, with girls avail for hostessing and from my observations and enquires, available for takeout, cost is 60usd St and 100usd LT...its filled with malaysian chinese...admittedly the quality of the girls here much higher than the expat bars..but also the pricing is double or triple...considering i took a cute viet ST for 15 dollars who told me she used to work at casa charging 60st, i think its not advisable to pay 4times the price. The girls here are all under 30..more 18-24yr range

the point i am trying to make is those girls were never in the bar scene to begin with, so your assumption that the market and the pricing is ruined by the influx of foreigners is made on rather shaky ground. the markets for USD50 LT has been pretty standard for many years, even way back in 2000. the different cheonging scene with different standard pricing with different quality of girls have been there for a long time. the simple fact is many of those girls in the CASA KTVs know their appeal to the customers and how much they are in demand and they will never work in the bar scene and will not happily accept smaller amount. if they cannot earn what they want in one place, they will just take another job work in other places where they can earn the amount they want.
if you have read the Vietnamese thread, you will realise that in Vietnam KTVs, the girls are not even open to immediate overnight offer, exactly as the Cambodian girls in the Phnom Penhs for locals. in fact, even you also yourself are aware of the fact and even mentioned an example that some girls in the bar scene are not available for extra service and they are the better-looking one.

Look at my post again I have never claimed the girls in casa EVER worked in the ang mo bars...but if you are saying that its simply NOT a case of girls charging 50usd ST in ang mo bars are now charging 100USD to stupid roberto's..well let me tell u its is a certain fact that these girls were once in vn fucking for 15usd a shot!!!.
But again this is not the basis for my comparison my comparison is based on the GDP per capita of cambodia $2400, the average monthly disposable income of 250...this makes no sense to pay a girl 1/2 mths salary for 1 niight boom boom.
Even here in Vn where its 3600, and 350usd respectively, i have never in the 6 yrs i have been here paid 100usd LT.
This is especially relevant where in malaysia the gdp per capita is 17,200 and 1,100
compared with australia my native country gdp is 43000 and 3700usd.

first of all, I didn't give any standard answer, just a description of the places and pricing I have been to based on information I have gathered from this and other forums and my own personal experience, which pretty much affirm many other posts made by others much earlier than my time there.
if you are confident that you have the means to access similar quality of goods for lower pricing, then I have no interest in disagreeing with you. I don't claim to have been to EVERY possible nightspots but I have been to enough places, from the high-end to low-end, white cheonging scene, Sino-Asian scene to the local KTVs and beer gardens, and as far as I am concerned there is a clear difference between the kind of girls you can find in different scene. whether you notice, appreciate or care about the difference or not is entirely subject to you.
I dont think is it fair to blame others for pretending to be millionaire and overpaying and all that. prices in the KTVs in Phnom Penh that cater for Malaysians, Singporean, Taiwanese etc are pretty standard and you can ask the mamasans or captains before you even order anything and ask for girls.
the standard takeaway price of USD50 for Vietnamese and Cambodian and USD100 for PRC girls FROM the KTVs has been in place since early 2000s. Similarly, prices asked for by bar girls and freelancers have been staying in the range of USD20 to USD40 but in the one year I was there, I have seen many increasingly unwilling to go for USD20, unless the girl clearly enjoy the company.
My friend has been working there since the early 2000s, back when there are only a few paved roads, even fewer traffic lights and the Sorya shopping centre has not been built and most Cambodians have never used an escalator in their life.
Since then, there has been explosive growth to the Cambodian economy, as most visitors to the country today can see. Motor vehicles are everywhere and street can be packed during rush hour. Thanks to the huge influx of foreign money and capital and the huge increase of demand, prices of everything in the city has gone up, the prices of food, rental, property prices, electricity etc..it is kinda unrealistic to expect prices of things we love and enjoy in the city to stay the same given the situation. The prices of USD70 has become the standard only in the middle of 2008.
In fact, if anything, the Cambodians themselves, the newly rich, are the one who are paying prices we would consider unreasonable without hesitation. In the high-end KTVs catering for locals eg. X2, X0, ROCK, whose girls speak Cambodian ONLY, the rooms and drink charges are HIGHER than the KTVs for foreigners like CASA, 99, SHANGHAI, MEGA etc. and to top it off, most girls working there are not available for takeaway, just like in Vietnam, and are routinely tipped USD10 to USD20 just to sit there. Unlike there are good chemistry, most of them will not go to hotel with customers and if they do go, they expect to be paid USD80 to USD100, according to my Cambodian friends who took me there.
even eating at restaurants, I see my Cambodian friends paying like 4000 riel as tips (1000 riel ~ RM0.9) for a meal that cost USD5. take a walk inside the shopping centres and see the kind of ridiculous prices they charge for no-name apparel and shoes. there are many new Toyotas, Hondas, Lexuses, even Humver now in Phnom Penh compared to years gone by and their owners are paying top dollars for everything, just like newly rich in Vietnam, China and everywhere else.
Cambodia is changing, which is also the reason it is more peaceful and prosperous than last time and which is also the reason MORE and MORE of us are going there. for better or worse? that depends on whether you are asking from the foreign cheongsters, average Cambodians, rich Cambodians. etc
