I have full confidence in our midfield n attack but our defense worries me. why is it so difficult for us to keep clean sheets? I hope Lucas' injury agt Villa wasn't serious n would be back abt Everton.

Bad news: Lucas is reportedly out for 8 weeks... still have 1 week plus of transfer window left, hope BR goes and buy a proper DM...

This is good news. The initial reports were that he is out for the rest of the season plus the World Cup in Brazil. If we can sell him in the June transfer window, it might be worth a thought. The next knee injury could be a career ending injury. Sigh. He is still quite young. Pity.

Liverpool have been packed with small, creative players since Brendan Rodgers took over and it could be set to continue, as talkSPORT are reporting the Reds with a move for Lazio playmaker Hernanes. Although it's likely that you will have heard of him, you may not know what he is about. So, we at Football Friends have had a closer look.

The nimble playmaker is a central player who looks to drift in behind defences but is at his best when he has the ball at his feet, facing goal, with players running off him.

The Lazio midfielder has very quick feet and is effective when charging towards people which would tie in nicely with the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez, and he also has a passing range which could compliment Steven Gerrard's.

He also willing to chip in with defensive contributions, too as his intelligence when it comes to positioning is something that not many players can match.

The 28-year-old isn't a player who you would want running onto a ball that dropped on the edge of the box, if you were a defender, as he has a lethal strike on him.

Overall, I would say it would be a good bit of business for Liverpool, as he would also provide some experience for the younger players to bounce off.

Chelsea Beat Liverpool to the Signing of FC Basel's Mohammed Salah

Chelsea have dealt a huge blow to Liverpool after they announced they have reached an agreement with Swiss champions FC Basel for the signing of Mohammed Salah.

Chelsea are gearing up to sell Juan Mata to Manchester United for £37m and decided that they wanted to find a replacement for the Spaniard before agreeing to sell the club's two-time player of the season to their Premier League rivals.

As of yet, no details have emerged as to how much Chelsea may be paying for Salah, but it was rumoured to be in the region of £10m.

The story broke yesterday that Chelsea had made a move to steal Salah from under the noses of Brendan Rodgers's Liverpool, who had been tracking the winger for some time.

Liverpool have been in discussions with the player for some time, but failed to settle on a fee for the talented winger.

Salah has been touted as the 'Egyptian Messi' and impressed immensely during Basel's Champions League campaign this season, including scoring in two appearances against the side he is about to join in Chelsea.

A statement on the club's official website confirmed the deal has been agreed.

"Chelsea Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with FC Basel for the transfer of their 21-year-old attacking midfielder Mohamed Salah.

The move is subject to the Egyptian international agreeing personal terms and completing a medical examination."

I dont know how good or bad salah is, or maybe the trf fees is out of reach ..etc.

But it shows how average our ambition is by the owners ..

Glen Johnson may be ruled out for the rest of the season, and even the World Cup, as it appears he needs to undergo surgery on both his ankles and groin.

Because FSG stands for Fucking Stupid Guys. Always want to buy cheap. In the end, the only cheap thing is we look cheap. Remember Eriksen? He joined Spurs for a reasonable fee after we dragged the transfer throughout summer.

Salah is only joining Chelsea because we let the transfer drag until Chelsea decides to sell Mata. 24th of Jan already. What were we doing in the first 3 weeks of Jan? If only we had bought Salah before Chelsea sold Mata..

Now really everything salah...

We are wafer thin on the fullbacks positions...

Currently we have only Flanagan (young and just back from injury), Kelly (if he is 100% fit), Cissokho (not convinced by him) for both left n right backs... Meanwhile, Jack Robinson, Wisdom, McLaughlin r out on loan...

I hate to see Toure / Skrtel playing RB or Agger (injured too) on the left.. they belongs to the centre!!!

anybody has any idea when Enrique is coming back?

look like we desperately need a Defensive Midfielder (pls dun insist on putting Stevie there!!) and a fullback (or recall Wisdom from loan?)...

Maybe BR is already working out a deal seeing Salah joining us on loan the very next day he arrives in England!!! I won't mind that, only if they agree to take Moses back....

Btw, why is Moses is still with us?!!

I can't see what he can offer which our own youngsters like Alberto or Ibe cannot...!!!!
