michel platini has indicated that 4th place in premiership would probably need to go through qualifying in the earlier rounds rather than the 3rd round for the champs league. so 3rd place is impt!!! so thankful that west ham beat arsenal at emirates stadium. fyi, they r the only team to have done the double over arsenal this season!!!

I agree with you on his passing & shooting ability ... but most significantly, he cannot hold a candle next to Stevie G or Lampard (who is incidentally his cousin) becoz he cannot run for nuts.
If only he was born in continental Europe, then he's be rave about in the mould of Alonso. Unfortunately, he was born in this hustling & bustling country called England.

So the race is on for 3rd Place. Crossing my fingers now... home stretch. Then, there is the champions League.

With regards to the transfer kitty of 40M, its very shrewd not to disclose how much they have. Doing so will only drive up the transfer prices or their targeted player.

Wow, This Redknapp chap really that solid huh? He must have been with Pools when I was staying overseas. He was the captain also right? I do recall seeing him lifting some Cup that Pools have won even though he didn't play in that game. At that time I was wondering why he so special wan. Now I know.

When Platini got the presidency, I got quite worried then cos Pools wasn't in a very comfortable position. Luckily, we managed to do good. Let's hope we dun end up being heart-broken. Luckily Gunners lost. Hope they lose their next match again. And then Bolton overtake them to take 4th .....

Bro, me got a similar kinda feeling like U. So far, he hasn't really been very impressive. And now that he just returned, he will also be quite rusty. But on the bright side, his return will give the players on the left side some competition which can only be good for the team.

In retrospect, it's a very very good choice in accepting the US takeover bid 'coz they're experts in the sports management business ... compared to the Dubai Sheikh or a millionaire like Thaksin, targeted players will only become twice or thrice as expensive. Not unlike when the angmos do shopping at Sim Lim Square or Lucky Plaza.

he was liverpool's captain then in the 90s. very elegant player and was easily the best looking player around!!! he is harry redknapp's (portsmouth manager)son. but have to agree with kingeros that he didnt have speed and cant tackle well. oh yes, and injury proned too...

michel platini got quite a few votes when he declared that smaller leagues should have representation in the champs league, not just the big boys... think he is missing the point here. champs league should comprise of the biggest teams in europe, so that every game is like a gigantic battle. that's the beauty of it all. but dont agree with u that gunners should be out of champs league though. dont hate them cos they play attractive football. but then, u r entitled to yr own opinion, so long as liverpool qualifies.

kewell was quite impressive when he was with leeds. when houllier got him for 5mil, still thought it was good business. guess it was the big fish in the small pond syndrome. with liverpool, suddenly he was just one of the big players instead of the top 2 honchos in the team. guess that affected him a bit, plus he was quite unlucky with injuries. seems like he has a habit of scoring against spurs though, if my memory serves me well.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

RB: STEVIE'S FANTASTIC BUT HE CAN IMPROVE
Paul Rogers 09 April 2007

Rafael Benitez has revealed the real reason why you don't often hear him lavishing praise on Steven Gerrard – no matter how well his captain has performed.

The Reds midfielder wrote in his recent autobiography that he wished his manager would give him a pat on the back every now and again but Rafa today insists that any lack of praise shouldn't be misinterpreted as a lack of appreciation for Gerrard's immense contribution to the Liverpool cause.

"I know he wishes I would say well done," claims Benitez. "But I like to put him under pressure. It’s my idea. If you think the players can give something more you have to push them sometimes.

“I know he will be disappointed at times but the best thing anyone has ever said about me has come from my former players. They talk about me eight or 10 years afterwards. They say: ‘I learned this from him’. I think my way is the right way to make Steven an even better player.

“I know he is a fantastic player and a nice person but he can do even better. I think he’s more mature now. If I play him on the right, he plays well. If I play him in the middle, he plays well and if I play him on the left, he will probably play well. Whatever you ask him to do, you will get 100 per cent. If he needs to play in goal he will do it.

“And there is more to come from him. He can be an even better player. Every year you will see him learn more. My father was the same with me. I knew he was proud of me, though. My idea has always been to push myself and improve. I wanted to be a top player and it wasn’t possible, so I want to be as good as I can be as a manager. You like to read good things about yourself but I’m not always worried about that. If I see the people around me happy, then I know I’m doing my job properly.”

I agree Redknapp cant run and tackle to save his life!

But yes he is a good player, Captain for a period of time....

Its really a shame to see talent wasted due to injuries...
He could be England Captain too!

Think 3rd place is all but assured. Currently watching Arsenal Vs Newcastle. I'll be very worried if I'm an Arsenal fan. They shouldn't have let Pires go. The youngsters need more time.

Even Bolton may catch up with Arsenal and win the 4th spot. They are leading Everton 1-0 as I type.

haha bro, either we love him or hate him huh?

Honestly, Harry when 100% fit could potentially become the missing link in us winning the title next year. I understand some skepticism when I say potentially but he has shown time and time again when he is fully fit he hasn't lost any of his class, maybe just a bit of pace. I don't need to talk of his Leeds days as he showed at the end of last year in a string of games what he can contribute. He is the type of player who is always up for the big games and has the mental side of his game to match the physical side. I can understand the frustrations with his injuries but ya know, it's not really his fault so maybe we should give him a chance until he is back on the field
