There are 1001 reasons out there and we have already established that Ego boosting is "one of the biggest' factor here. I guess that really depends on where one lies in the hierachy of social standings. I used to think like you. When one is poor, he has nothing to brag about and no one to brag to. Survivor is his main concern. As his wealth and social standing rises the restrictions start to crawl in. He start to have more disposable income to feed his hobbies . When his status continue to rise higher he wont be able to enjoy all those things he used to do previously. To avoid scrutiny from extended family members or peers he now has to be very discreet in his dealings. Easiest way to achieve that is to pay up for the services. So here I disagree with you. EGO becomes the real game when one reaches a high social status.
As for the $$$ involved. I have this to say. Money is no longer the issue. What these men do is no different to their wives going shopping or 'yum cha'. They can dine at the same restaurant 7 days a wk. The game is simple. A arranged the dinner on Tuesday and gave 100 tips for a 500 dinner.. B managed to get a private room on a busy day to show her higher influence.. and then C persuaded the manager to present them with free desert to show she's the best... this goes on and on.. the the happiest people are the waiters and waitresses..
The 2nd big factor does not concern me so I'll not discuss it here.
I guess my frens may hv exaggerated a bit or the total figure could hv included private deal.

I have not visited the clubs at level 3 and 4 but will probably go look-see look-see in the next 2 weeks. From feedbacks I received, can probably give them both a miss.

See, I got no social status. I realise my limitations and don't want to get myself into trouble over a useless thing like ego. I say "useless" because to people like me, no money and no social status, other things must take priority. I cannot afford to have lofty ambitions like getting a singer to sleep with me despite my fugly looks and lack of spending power, just to prove that I can make it. I can only afford to have small goals like shooting my soldiers into a willing woman's mouth or pussy for small sums of money.
At the same time, I would like to urge all the other people like me out there who have no social status and money. Don't try to be like those HFJ regulars go there spend money try to hook PRC. We all still young and poor, some things like "ego game" we cannot afford to play. Right now, our priority should be to earn money, take care of the people closest to you, don't give mother father any problem, make headway in career, etc. Don't rack up financial debts just to impress some PRC who hasn't done anything for you. It's OK for people to think you are poor, just don't let them think you are an idiot.
What other people think is an accomplishment does not have to be your idea of an accomplishment. You don't have to be impressed. (Although sometimes to eng siew, you might have to act impressed.) There's no shame in not being a Casanova. But there is shame in spending time and money to impress PRC singers when the people closer to you need and deserve it more.
