Next time you have such a supposed Japan FL chat. Do this very simple TEST.
Go to Wikipedia and click the Japan Wiki.
type in search : anything , like a celebrity name
copy paste the title LIke example :michael jackson
マイケル・ジャクソン（Michael Joseph Jackson)

Or if you want simply , u go to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rise_(Speed_album)
copy paste 6.Lovely Friendship (ラブリー フレンドシップ, roberii furenshippu?)

Of course you copy the japanese character and ask her to translate. So simple it cant be simpler
If she give you some odd answer like "sky sea moon love hate", its not a nihonjin!

it is def a scam. adpost is full of them too. can connect with them and end up chatting with them in MSN. Have hot steamy chat and when they have you hooked they want you to sign up for same or similar $4.99 or more 'subscription' - then you never hear from them again.

anyway you can also apply simple test even when meeting up "japan" FL
either have a japanese song or video on your phone and play it for a while and ask her what THE HECK were they saying?

of course the simplest one would be to ask them to intro themselve in jap. im presuming you'll be able to at least understand a bit of course for this to work.
