How much monthly allowance do you give your wife or gf? What is it used for?

My wife works part-time job getting much lesser pay than mine. So she pay for her personnel item and help me with household expenses. I pay for my personnel item, household expenses, and child's expenses.
Having this arrangement i can't afford to give her money.

I used to give $500 to my ex-wife mainly due that she's a housewife. That time not earning much, can only give within my means.

1. Depends on the culture. In some countries it is the duty of the husband to provide for the family.

2. Depends on your arrangement. Some double income families split everything in the middle or expenses are assigned to each of them. Some would pull together their income, manage the budget and whatever is left goes to the family fund which is actually savings labelled as "no touch"

Some husbands who can afford buy their wives gifts on top of their contribution to the monthly household budget. Wives who have their own source of income do the same for their husbands too.

I prefer to call it contribution to the budget instead of allowance.

Men are not obliged to give allowance to their GF. If your GF demands this, think twice. She may be out to milk you dry.

We both work. He earns more than me. I gave him a loan, 5 digits. He has not returned. We are still married.

I don't see why anyone has any right to claim any amount from the other party. Even married also. U only spend what u can afford.

Yes u buy gifts for each other on special occasions. U can give her "extra shopping money" when u get extra bonuses or pay raise. But don't ever just pamper for the sake of stop her complaining.
