Author’s Note: I started this story because I did find out something weird between my other half and one of her colleagues. It’s not the first time already. We have talked about the issue and life carries on as usual… thanks for the support from the bros to this series…your comments have always been my motivation to write and share!

I didn’t even search for my wife’s contact or anything. I just typed her number out and called. I was fuming.

I could hear her phone ringing, their live audio was a bit distorted since I was calling the device itself directly.

She didn’t pick it up. In fact, I could hear her ransacking her handbag, getting the phone, and then letting out a big gasp.

“Who is it?” Richard asked.

My wife kept quiet. She proceeded to ignore my call.

I freaking called again.

I didn’t hear the phone ring this time around, I guessed my wife must have put it into silent mode.

“Who is it?” Richard asked again.

After 2 or 3 seconds, our call connected!

“Yes, babe?” She said softly.

I stumbled. Part of me didn’t expect her to pick up the call, part of me just couldn’t adjust myself to talk to her normally.

“Oh, is it a good time to talk?” I didn’t know why I say that.

“Err yea, I just finished stretching. Ermmm, warm up before the yoga you know?” She explained.

“You sound tired already,” I said.

“Haha, yea…well, I haven’t done yoga for a while already dear, I told you,” her laugh didn’t sound genuine.

“Right yes, where is the place again?” I asked.

“Errr…why, why? I think I will be late leh, I might join my yoga classmates for dinner later,” I could sense her mind running fast.

“Oh I remember liao, it’s near Bugis there right?” I said.

She didn’t confirm or deny it. “Errr I call you back ok, my class starting now,” she was trying to brush me off.

I took a deep breath, then I said this.

“Don’t go with your friends later, I go pick you up, we then have some Teochew porridge together, how about that?” Teochew porridge was her favourite.

“…” It was dead silent from her end but she hadn’t hung up the phone.

“…Please babe?” I pleaded.

“Sure, sure…talk to you later,” she ended the call. I sighed with relief. I foolishly felt like she was coming back to me.

Until reality hit me with Richard’s voice from the spyware.

“What is it, babe? Your husband called?” Richard asked.

“Hey hey hey why are you buttoning up? Are you leaving already?” Richard obviously didn’t want to stop.

“I need to leave now, can you drop me at Bugis MRT?” my wife said.

“Wait what, I haven’t cum leh! Only you have fun, what about me?” Richard shamelessly tried to ask my wife to stay longer.

“Richard, I owe you one, ok? I need to go now. Please drop me off at Bugis MRT,” my wife stood firm.

Fuck you don’t owe him shit.

“…we do in office tomorrow?” Richard asked.

“Sure,” my wife agreed swiftly.

“Can you wear high heels and the pencil skirt like last time?” Richard requested.

“Aiyo Richard…what the…ok ok, now please get me to Bugis MRT, thank you!” my wife relented.

I went to pick up my wife later that night. We drove to the porridge place. It felt awkward. Both my wife and I didn’t speak at all in the car.

I decided to break the silence.

“Ei, where is your yoga bag?” I asked.

She looked genuinely shocked. “Oh no oh no, I think I must have left it in the center,” she explained. She tried to act like it really happened.

“Oh you want me to drive back?” I asked. I just couldn’t help but wanting to see how she would come up with lies and lies.

“Oh pfff, it’s ok no big deal, let’s go. Later late liao no more otak for you,” she said.

Hmm, good save.

At the end of the day, we were finally back home. I didn’t even bother to ask when I walked past the open rack where she kept her yoga bag. I just acted like I didn’t see it and went to the toilet. When I came out, the bag was already gone.

My wife was getting really sloppy in covering her tracks.

I didn’t expect my wife to get literally very sloppy a week later with Jameson at our house once she knew I was already overseas at a work event in Jakarta.
