Actually not out of job but rather semi retired and working from home, Joo Chiat and Geylang. Also Carry my laptop around lah. Once in a while have a peek at SBF when nobody is looking

This is what I learn recently.

There are some modal particles in Vietnamese (used at the end of a question) such as vay, the, day (w/o) tones. These particles have no lexical meaning but they do add some emotional meanings in spoken language (to make the conversation more interactive). They can be used interchangeably.

Examples:
1) Hom nay em dinh lam gi vay?
2) May gio em di lam the?
3) Em dang di dau day?

However, another modal particle, nhe, is used when the speaker makes a suggestion and expects the listener to agree with him/her.

Best example: bay gio em di khach san voi anh nhe!

i wonder the project you did is 'understand tieng viet'.
I don't know what is modal particle and what is lexical meaning.
Anyway please share some more.
