Singkies like to look down on these foreign workers but many of them are earning much more than those singkies. Although they are paid low basic salary...... but with OT and allowances they add up and many do hit above $5K monthly. Those who have been here longer and hold supersivory roles like foreman or team leaders can hit $6-7K p/m easily.

Singkies are a pampered lot always looking for an easy way out...... if only they are willing to do the jobs these foreign workers are doing.... they too can take home big salary.

Very true..... my company used to employ only singaporeans for foremen jobs. Their role is mainly to supervise our foreign workers so they need to be outdoors often and work similar hours which means lots of OT and also work on weekends if the project is urgent.
KNN.... despite being paid above market rates and easily taking home $10K monthly.... these guys only know to complain..... about the long hours, adverse weather conditions etc
They dun even need to do physical manual work like our workers... just use mouth to supervise those workers but also want to complain and always looking for excuses to come back office sit in aircon.
After going through several local foremen.... somehow all with similar mindset... my boss finally got fedup and decided to promote from within our pool of foreign workers instead. Our company had not employed any Singaporean for PMET positions since that day.
The only Singaporeans we employ now is simply to fulfill the MOM quota and they are usually the despatch guys, admin staff & cleaning team. Occasionally we may have 1 or 2 PMET because they are relatives of our Board of Directors but those guys dun usually stay long.
