Hi Bro

You have to wait a few days to get the final forex rate that your credit card will charge for your transaction.

I was shopping in JB last week and bought some groceries using my credit card also. That day, the money changer was only giving 2.53 or 2.54 I think. When I went online to check my account, the amount I spent (in SGD) was blocked and the charge was still floating and not yet finalised.

I did some calculations based on the amount blocked and the rate given by the credit card company was like 2.56+.

A few days later, I check again and this time the transaction was finalised and the entry was recorded. BUT, the finalised charge was given at a very poor rate of like 2.50+.

So when using your credit card, please be aware that it will take a few days for the charge to be confirmed. The forex rate applied for the floating amount charged may not be the same with the final amount charged.

eg5354 any foreigner investor, S'porean or any other nationality, have to beware of flip flop laws across the CauXXway. First a law was changed to penalise foreign property investors. Then the law was revoked. Flip flop. History repeats itself.

Any non indigenous person, whether citizen or not can never get justice done if they go against the ruling elite. A M'sian Chi. man who was brought in for questioning by the MACC office. He died in custody. It was ruled he fell out the window. He was going to get married within a few days or weeks. The late Altantuya, another case in point. I shall not name the country.

I think it depends on which bank credit card you are using? When I use my HSBC or Citibank cards overseas, they need a few days to reflect into my account the transactions. When I use my Maybank or Bumiputra cards they are recorded the same day or the next working day latest.

So I believe bro Funzio was using a local credit card.

Hi Bro Hawthorns

When you say local credit card, do you mean a credit card issued in Malaysia or is it a credit card issued by a Malaysian Bank based in Singapore - for example, Maybank Singapore or CIMB Singapore?

Because if it means a credit card issued in Malaysia, Bro Funzio wouldn't have to worry about the exchange rate. The credit card should be denominated in RM.

For my latest grocery shopping trip in JB, I used my CIMB Singapore credit card and still had to wait for a few days before the transaction was finalised on my account. Sadly, the floating charge was calculated at 2.56+ and the final charge was calculated at 2.50+
