It's really difficult to define and describe love. I've been trying to look at this from different angles just to convince myself.

One of the better ones I have is to imagine myself in a war zone and the object of my love is in enemy lines. The question is if I would risk my life to attempt to rescue her. Personally, when I picture most of the women in my life (incl my wife), I would not. However, if the person was my kid, no second thoughts at all... I would risk everything for the child.

In short, true love is unconditional.

Don’t turn your passion into a fashion. On one hand still feel for ex GF with a sour taste upon hearing that she is getting married soon then on the other having a fling with another married woman right on and last of all, married with a single kid. People quit too easily these days, marriages can be considered a partnership where both parties have to work things out to keep the business of marriage going. Like all partnerships sometimes one partner contributes more but in the end it is the both that keeps it going. Pride is your worst enemy so keep it in check.

i've been told that the 1 to marry usually aint the 1 that u truly madly deeply love. some frens actually settle for 2nd best, and their reasons; if she's the 1 that you can't live without... you'd be brewing jealousy for nothing, and cant set your mind at ease when you outstationed...etc.

so if she's the 2nd best, there's less to think about, and where work involves some ECA after hours, there's also less guilt.

i dont know if i'd ever agree with that sorta rationale, but i suppose it being tried n tested, probably has some truth in it...
