Hi The Lord. Nice to meet you in this thread. I have never visited Angeles City, Philippines before. I am in Singapore. I saw an episode of "Bangedup Abroad" on the National Geographic channel last night about a UK male Caucasian citizen who met a Filipina on webchat and visited her in Philippines and both of them were bangedup really bad. He was a 37 year old bachelor and a machinist. He looks tall, slim and ordinary looking. One day he accidentally webcam chatted with a Filipina working in the Middle East. She looks small size and pretty. They chatted a number of times after that. She told him that she was married to her Filipino husband. He and their two children live in Philippines. He was physically abusive to her. She wants to divorce him but Filipino law does not allow it.

One day she tells the English man that she is leaving to return to Philippines. He makes up his mind soon and tells her that he will meet her in Philippines. They do so and have a good time. They live in her father's house.

She receives a letter from her husband that she was being charged with adultery. The Filipino Police arrive with guns and an M16 rifle cocked to arrest her and the English man. She and the English man face 7 years to 14 years in prison by Filipino law! By that time, she was pregnant by the English man. He does not want to leave her. They are thrown in the provincial jail. There were rats crawling in the jail cell. They managed to bail themselves out.

They go into hiding. They are spotted by a private investigator hired by her husband. A carload of thugs shoot at their car. They go on a high speed chase. They escape on foot. She runs but has to stop because her belly is painful.

She gives birth to a healthy baby girl elsewhere. They visit the British High Commission in Philippines. They find that her husband has informed the Police to arrest them there. They are informed that that the baby girl legally belongs to her husband! And he can do what he likes with her. This is because divorce is nigh impossible in the Philippines. Her daughter cannot get a genuine, legal birth certificate. They bribe and obtain her passport and her daughter's birth certificate. All through their ordeal they had to bribe their way throught dangerous situations. The three of them fly to UK and lived happily ever after. There is not a day which she does not think of her two children left behind in the Philippines.

I do not doubt the above story. I salute the English man for standing by his now Filipina wife. In future could this be a ploy to con male tourists of money in the Philippines?

The story is true, and I saw it in Daily Mail, sometime ago, more like 2 years or so ago, about the same time a British man was murdered by his wife and the wife's boyfriend .. (that case - nothing happened, as Filipinos forgave the sinners .. ) and where Brit's mother fought for custody of the kids, which didn't bade well for the wife as she had decided to fight for maintenance from the in-laws

This story, the version I read, and also was widely published in British News sites (and some were very graphical) was they met in Middle East and had a great thing going .. not like it was a web-chat (maybe they toned it, rather than paint Catholic church going pinays as money-suckers - as does a lot in Middle East .. and now in Singapore too .. ) and they woman was pregnant with the Brit's child, before she headed home .. and of course .. the rest is history .. and of course, the unbiased story is not what you saw on NG .. Well, that's a warning to those who easily fall in love with bar girls too .. and .. more ..

A lonely British man who flew across the world to propose to a woman he met on the internet has been stabbed to death by her jealous boyfriend - just two days after he arrived in the Philippines.

John Lorne McDonald, from Aberdeen, fell for Filipina who had placed details about herself on an internet dating site - but police suspect she failed to tell him she already had a boyfriend.

The 28-year-old Scotsman packed his bags and flew to the town of Angona, 20 miles east of Manila, where he met his chat-room lover, 31-year-old Nanqueen 'Nancy' Romero,  face to face for the first time.

Just two days later he was dead - stabbed numerous times by Miss Romero's enraged live-in Filipino boyfriend.

She was also stabbed by the boyfriend, named as Anselmo Lacostales, who has gone on the run, having also stolen Mr McDonald's wallet.

Miss Romero received stab wounds in the stomach and arms and is now in intensive care.

The Brit flew across the world to the Phillippines to propose to a woman he had met on the internet - and was murdered two days later

According to police officer Edgar Petalvero, who is in charge of the case, Mr McDonald met Miss Romero through an internet dating site chat room.
They spent weeks conversing with each other online before she invited him to fly to the Philippines.

Impoverished Filipino women often using dating sites in the hope of meeting a Western man they might be able to marry and take them away from their poor lifestyles.

John Lorne McDonald travelled to a town 20 miles north of Manila, capital of the Philippines, and was stabbed to death by Nanqueen 'Nancy' Romero's boyfriend
'Mr McDonald arrived in the Philippines last Thursday and called around at Nancy's house on Saturday,' said officer Petalvero.

'From what we understand, she introduced her live-in boyfriend, Lacostales, as her brother. But trouble came after they all went out to dinner.'

According to evidence police have gathered, after Mr McDonald, Miss Romero and Lacostales had dined in an Angona restaurant, they moved on to a karaoke bar, where the drinks flowed.

Sometime during the early hours of the morning, Mr McDonald made it known that he planned to ask for Miss Romero's hand in marriage. Lacostales was furious, according to police.

When they arrived back at the home Miss Romero shared with her boyfriend, Lacostales produced a knife and stabbed the Scotsman and Miss Romero repeatedly. Then he fled.

Neighbours who heard her screams raised the alarm, but by the time Mr McDonald arrived at hospital he was declared dead.

Police had said earlier that Lacostales had arrived at the house while Mr McDonald and Miss Romero were throwing a party to celebrate their future together and it was then that he had stabbed the couple.

But investigators now believe that the boyfriend was with the pair throughout the evening and had stabbed them when he heard Mr McDonald talking of marriage.

The British Embassy in Manila said Mr McDonald's mother, who lives in Aberdeen, was being informed of his death.

In February this year retired banker Frank Bell, 60, from London, escaped with his life when he was ambushed by gunmen as he drove with his 28-year-old Filipina wife Juriza and four-year-old daughter Savanna in the Philippines city of Cebu.

It was claimed he had been targeted by two teenage men who drove up to his van on a motor bike and fired the shots but they were killed when they lost control of the bike and crashed.

Mostly, it is not a plan to scam .. you have to give credit where it is due..

The issue is a lot of lesser educated try to go with the flow.. and then realise things are messy ....

And the constant reminder of 'generous' foreigners doesn't do justice when they realise that most Foreigners are not plain ATM machines (like the election time when people just give out money to vote .. etc.. and the benefactors are termed as 'generous' .. ) and also my aversion to anybody who calls me "GENEROUS" as that sets alarm bells off .. in my days of learning my filipino legs, I too had instances of girls turning up to meet me with their male cousins .. or brothers .. I always steel myself and cut the visit short .. lest the bf/brother/cousin take me too as a 'generous' foreigner who is here to throw his money and make strangers happy (as the church has 'coded' them .. )

And only a few have planned to scam .. the rest are victims of their own naivity .. and the church doesn't do much in that area to get them out of their mess ..

All the above, from my years of experience with Philippines and Filipinas ..

Don't think too much bro.. the leser educated have a different view of the world ... even those coming to work in Singapore .. innocently believing 'generous' men will take care of them, their bf/husband ..etc. etc.. and when you ask them what is wrong with their brain, they will go mental .. and throw tantrum .. and for a moment they will not comprehend that it is NOT NORMAL to expect a stranger to take care of her BF/husband etc .. after all, the church harps that rich must give to poor, and the foreigners are all rich, and very generous so why is this foreigner not behaving like the church says he should ? Something is wrong with the Foreigner .. (and no, don't bother arguing .. YOU WILL ALWAYS LOOSE .. ) and also my warning sign comes out, when a girl says "kuripot" even as a joke .. as, the well behaved will never use that word, as they know that money is not 'dropping' from the sky .. unlike the less educated / poor .. who have been reconditioned otherwise .. even in Singapore, it is not abnromal for such people to expect strangers to take care of strangers .. and if you invite a girl, even professional, of the wrong upbringing, it is normal for her to drag along her friends and then expect you to pay .. after all, you are rich right ? Had this even with a girl who brought along her cousin brother, working here, who refused to pay as he kept saying "you are earning more .. "

I smiled and ordered one bottle of Black Label, and bluntly told the idiot that as much as I earn, he too earns, so it is his turn or he can return the bottle back to the bar .. and I walked out .. well, I am sure until today the girl and her cousin (I know it was not her BF .. her cousin .. really) must be cursing me, though they both earn here in Singapore, and more than 5,000 $ a month .. atleast .. see - their brain is wrong... or their brain says WE ARE WRONG ..

Hence my recommendation to not venture out to areas I been to .. like Iloilo, Bacolod, Batangas, Dumeguete, Tuguegarao, Bugias .. and even far away places .. where you may even get free xxx .. and more GFE .. but .. maybe run the risk of trouble if you don't know who you will rub against .. and you can end your life in a second ..

Stay within 'safe' places .. if you have no companion to take you to far off places ..

As for the educated/exposed, they are a world apart ... and I have met enough and more nice people .. and who will shun any of the behaviour that we stereotype filipinos to be ..

Though I have also met enough lesser educated who will kill somebody for you .. even if they have nothing left in their world

The problem with most people is, they see bar girls, and think they can fix their life .. or feel melted by seeing one poor girl and think that marrying is the best solution .. without comprehending that marriage is a solution not only for the girl, but her whole family who looks on to the foreigner as a benefactor .. And then the foreigner has problem understanding the problem ...

And the others, see a girl, who is pretty promiscuous and don't want to extra polate the promiscuity and for a moment, think of the worse case scenario .. That, my friends, is the cause celebre'

If you are on DIA, well, you can always ask for a meetup, and see who tags along with her .. and in my case, it is a pretty bad idea to arrange dates with Angeles girls, as those Angeles girsl in DIA are looking for a lucky ticket

For other places, I have run the gauntlet enough times, and came out winner .. luckily, and when in doubtl, I enrol a local friend to tag along .. as just couple of time i did feel something was not right, when, one girl insisted that she will come to my room, and then, another, while talking to me, I noticed a few guys loitering around there ..

In the former case, i wisely gave a wrong hotel, and a few minutes later, a stranger calls and threatens me .. for trying to screw innocent girls .. I acted like I am scared .. and terrified .. though while they were probably searching in Pearl Garden, I was far off and safe in Makati .. and I kept the show going ..

Hence also, don't give out your photo .. or on web chat feign that your webcam is not working .. and another way I found is .. to tell that I want to send a gift or send a small token of appreciation like, 500 peso ?? .. and half the time, the address / account holder was to a guy - who, the online girl claimed was her brother/cousin, as she is too young to pick up delivery (too young ? thanks for the warning .. pare .. ingat .. bye bye .. )

Anyway, why run the risk, when you have nice girls in AC ? And for a mere 1,500 peso, you can have good GFE - di ba ?

Dont be stingy, and don't need to be too generous, just be happy and spend .. enough to keep you out of trouble ..

PS: DIA and all are for those who have ample time in their hands
