Looking at the GE date, i think GL will only re-open after GE to avoid any hot button topics.

Yes, it is a distinct possibility. AV and MOH will have the our data once they activate the Safe Entry program on all brothels. If nothing happens, well and good! If we contacted Covid19 either from the WL or some one else, MOH could establish the chains and our wives may find out our extramural activities. Good luck to us!

With or without Safe Entry program they also able to track everybody movement thru our mobile phone. Just that it take longer time compare to Safe Entry program. Every mobile line is like our internet line come with unique IP code and can be track. And this is not just our gov using it, all gov in the world doing the same thing.

There is actually no way of tracking if you turn off the gps and don't install any govt apps.

- If Geylang does open, and that is a big if, contract tracing is gonna be compulsory. So yes, scan QR code and be prepared to get a phone call if someone who has visited before u is found infected. If it appears on the news that a new hotspot has erupted in Geylang and u get quarantined, it is very easy for your family to connect the dots.
- Election is around the corner. Unlikely PAP will do something as silly as allow the MOST NON ESSENTIAL Service and potentially cause a massive outbreak.

Personally I think Geylang is screwed. Without a vaccine, it is not possible to restart and if Singapore can survive one year without geylang there is little incentive for PAP to reallow its existence and this might be the end of geylang.

One word. Lobbying.

Don't underestimate the political lobbying power of rich towkays and business associations behind the scene when they found out the initial 3-stage reopening timeline, which was significantly longer than what is happening now. I'm willing to bet my bottom dollar that behind the scenes, a lot of veiled political signals were levelled at the government where "if you mess my businesses up, you can forget about the votes from myself and everyone else working under or with me."

It's more like what type of business it is classified under? Govt cannot lump spa, massage centre and GL together obviously. That is tantamount to acknowledging that sexual services are happening in spa / massage.

Also because of the common licence held by clean legit spas and the dirtier ones, there's no separation. Ban the dirty ones means the clean ones also cannot operate.

Another point is that when you go to hairdresser or massage now, where there is close proximity, both the service provider and customer supposed to be masked according to the covid regulations. There is nothing that gets in the way of service if you are masked. But for GL? Not possible to keep masks on, and it would be a farce to pretend the rule can be observed.

Then of course, the continued development of the area... just cross over to guillemard road side, there's going to be new hdb, condo, to add to the new scdf building and npc Who knows what are the intentions for the area and maybe govt thinking this is as good a time as any to implement it.
