Re: Cambodia (Phnom Penh)
Was in PP last Wednesday morning. Overall impression of PP is not bad and I find the place is quiet safe. My client brought me out to Golden Century KTV in Phonm Penh Hotel which I also stay. I don't quiet like PP hotel for the fact that the bed is super hard. Back to Golden Century KTV. The joint is nicely decorated, at par with many mid-high end KTV in china. Nice sound system with good song ordering system. The 1st batch of lady brought in were khmer gals but they are not my cup of tea. 2nd round were Viet gals and also not to my taste. 3rd round were China MM which is at par with MM in low end of KTV in Singapore such as those on North Beach road. China MM and Viet MM tip is US$20 while the Khmer is US$10. Take out for China MM is US$150 as informed by my client. Did not take any of them.....
My next trip to PP, I must go to Casa or Manhathan disco as recommende by bro here... I was with client on last trip so no choice.... I quiet like PP and intent to visit there often.... must think of something so that can have excuse to go there. I like the night scene there better than Hanoi. |

Re: Cambodia (Phnom Penh)
Bro PR,
The KTV scene, at least the Golden Century in PP hotel is at par with up market KTV in secondary city in CHina with good sound system and song selection. If you can't speak Khmer or Viet, at least there are Chinese MM there for you. The best KTV in Hanoi is Big Boss in Fortuna hotel and it is nothing to shout about. As a matter of fact, the hardware of KTV is better than Catwalk of HCMC in New World hotel. CLubing, Another samster bro told me that Manhathan is good and late night, casa is very lifely. Eventhough I did not have a chance to go the clubbing scene, from the KTV take, I think it is better than Hanoi. Of course, this is just my personal opinion lah... |

Hotels, currency various infor
Hi Bros,
Very interesting thread a lot of usefull information. I am off to PP in 2 months and have a few question and was wondering if you guys can help me: 1) Will probably be staying at Cambodiana Hotel ( Formely Sofitel ) which is located at 313 Sisowath Quay, is this central enough for the places mentioned in this thread? 2) In reading this thread everyone mention's USD, can I confirm that you actually pay in USD and not in local currency, or have I misunderstood? 3) I do not speak Mandarin, Viet or any local dilect will this be a problem? If so can anyone recommend a good local guide I can use? 4) I prefer massage parlors and not KTVs are there any near my hotel where my language skills will not be a problem i.e. I can go for a massage even though I do not speak the language? 5) Is there anything esle I need to know about as I do not speak the language? 6) Has anyone played golf there as I am hoping to play golf and would like some help in booking my golf tee off times? 7) Does anyone know if I can bring a girl back to the room in my hotel the Cambodiana? Thanks for all your help. L |

Hi Bros,

PF: PP is a small city and it really doesn't matter where you stay.. unless if you preference of transport is with your feet. 2) In reading this thread everyone mention's USD, can I confirm that you actually pay in USD and not in local currency, or have I misunderstood? PF: Everything is in USD... there are local currency, but it seems not popular. 3) I do not speak Mandarin, Viet or any local dilect will this be a problem? If so can anyone recommend a good local guide I can use? PF: There are many establishment that speak english or mandarin... I think not knowing khmer is not that disadvantage. 4) I prefer massage parlors and not KTVs are there any near my hotel where my language skills will not be a problem i.e. I can go for a massage even though I do not speak the language? 5) Is there anything esle I need to know about as I do not speak the language? PF: bring money... hehehe.. 6) Has anyone played golf there as I am hoping to play golf and would like some help in booking my golf tee off times? PF: Get hotel concierge to do the booking for you. 7) Does anyone know if I can bring a girl back to the room in my hotel the Cambodiana? PF: Looks like all hotels there are gal friendly. Thanks for all your help. |

Re: Cambodia (Phnom Penh)
Cambodiana Hotel is closed to the Palace and riverside where heaps of pubs and bars are...However, if KTVs and Clubs are what you're after, then maybe IMHO I suggest maybe the Phnom Penh Hotel or Asia Palace hotel (which is in the heart of the city) or even Sunway.
Most hotels when talking to the bell boys, you can get them to hook you up for WL/FL...USD is preferred method of payment as mentioned by Bro PF. |

Re: Cambodia (Phnom Penh)
I totally agreed...But Bro Pink_Flyod did complained but how hard the beds can be in Phnom Penh hotel Ha! Then again, the KTV is just downstairs and the hotel is pretty impressive (for local standard) lah

Re: Cambodia (Phnom Penh)
Are you hinting that I need a fat FL to be the cushion... but it seems all khmer, viet, and chinese MM are all slim one leh... at least the one I saw in Golden Century KTV....
