Frankly, I personally don’t like the pomp and general hullabaloo that accompanies the big money ‘sashing’. I find it rather tacky. For some men, it may seem like an ego massage as in “hey, I can afford it” – but for me personally, it is like saying: “Hey, look at me …. I just got suckered….”
Ah~~~this statement i used to use when i was on a budget and earning a salary, hence i can totally understand where you're coming from.
But then again, to some, its not ego, it's already a habit.
Just like some men go KTV wif 5 pax open only 1 bottle, while people like me, 2 pax go KTV also open 3 bottles, how has ego got to do wif this?

Chill bro DYBJ, apologies if my statement rubbed you the wrong way. The hanging of sash is a personal viewpoint. If it had inadvertantly caused you offence, I am sorry.

Quite careless nowadays, words like "suckers" is an emotionally laden word which can sometimes rile. I am usually quite careful when it comes to typing/writing such words as it can evoke (or provoke) an emotional response.

What I simply meant by my statement is that people who get the ego kicks from the attendant pomp and ceremony that accompanies a big money hanging may have overpaid for this boost i.e. poor value proposition.

Now, I have admittedly limited personal experience here so I do not apprehend the true value of this activity - so it is an unfair statement on my part to make. For that lapse, I take responsibility for it.

My best friends are serial hanging flower hangers. I even went through several flower wars between associates/friends. I do not cast apersions or ridicule their activity. In fact, I would often fuel this one upmanship game in the name of fun.

Everyone has the absolute right on how they want to spend their own money as I don't know the context and the value derived. To each his own I say.

The analogy with bottles opened is not really relevant. Sometimes many bottles were opened (and invite numerous gals to partake in the party) while other times just a bottle shared between two friends is fine. What sets the spending patterns different is that there is the element of ostentation about the sash hanging which does not quite suit me (but may suit other people).

Like I post earlier, I have not been to Kabuki for the longest of time. Guess its has been at least a year since. Time flies doesn't it?

Since you have used J (which I too occasionally use), we may share notes/anecdotes/laughs over drinks- at Kabuki where else?. I am sure J have got some interesting stories to tell you ... that is if you are still not upset over my earlier remarks.

(If J is not around anymore, I will call a vateran ang pai there - she too can tell you some interesting tales about my 'nostalgic days'!)

Of course, we will invite the esteemed Lady LD over for this tate-a-tate session.

On this auspicious day, I like to express my profound gratitude to several gurus (frens) who called me, late last nite n early this AM, to give advice on issues re BY. Your candor n counseling r most appreciated. Thanks again to all of u!!

After much introspection, I realize what my fatal weakness is. I must improve my inner game which is extremely fragile. I know what I want n what I should do.

A strange thing has also happened in the last wk or so. The type of gal I like has evolved n changed. Absolute height is no longer important, as long as the gal is aesthetically pleasing to me n has very proportionate figure including her arms n legs. A shapely ass is still a must though.

Another attribute has gained much significance. I now prefer a gal who has intellect n higher educational level. Her ability to speak English is a plus. In other words, a gal who looks like a uni student n is smart enough n young enough to be one.

Everything being equal, I still prefer Fujian gals becos it's in my blood n genes (me being a 100% Fujian male).

On the issue of a piece of rented furniture vs. a collectible vase, I'll go w/ the flow n do what come naturally n let the chips fall where they may...

I'll try to enjoy the journey, the timeless n eternal present moment, one moment at a time, n not worry at all abt the outcome...

In the last 2 months, I hv also lost focus on many more important tasks in my life bcos chasing n BY-ing these SYTs hv taken too much time. This BY-ing thing should hv been, n from now onwards will be, a minor sideshow for me. Henceforth I will be a "one-woman man."
