Re: Thai Amulets...

It depends on your feel of the amulet. You must choose the amulet yourself. If you feel it's right, it's right.

I won't advise you getting anything that deals with black magic, like lok kop, or use naan man plai, nor yim thong etc..

Just get an amulet that feels right.

The size and shape matters. If you don't want something big, you can try to take a look at a Luang Pu Toh, Chan Loy. Ask yourself what shape suits you?

Another thing is the budget that you have. I can recommend you famous amulets like the "Gern Lan" or "Nattana" or "Jumbo Song", all good amulets in my opinion, but what's your feel for them and what's your budget for them?
You need to know if you are getting the real thing if you are paying alot for it. How do you know it's real for starters?

All these are things to consider.

For myself, I usually just wear one amulet. Somdej (depicts the buddah).
When I cheong, I take it off. It's been so long, it's cracking. And it's not expensive. In fact, it is a gift.

For beginners my advise is just wear an ordinary somdej that's new and from a temple. And be happy with it. Cheap and good. Can be from any temple.
I happen to like the Somdej Bankunprom, new batch. Because, first of all, it's bright white, second of all, it's dotted blue. Third? it's not expensive. (last I check a few years ago, it was like about 70 sg dollars?)

I have seen it, liked the design and feel it's nice.

And if I wear it and it cracks, I won't feel the heart ache. And i haven't even got that piece yet. Because I haven't got the chance to goto Wat BanKunProm. (Wat means temple). So take your time.

In Buddhism, body is just a physical shell. When u die, u leave the shell. Anyway, I can't commend whether it is right or wrong cos I'm also a layman.
