andyk - living/working in nyc. i have relatives in hk, so i go there once every few years. i like it there - great infrastructure (like singapore), common culture, food, close to other vacation spots (thailand, china, etc). i've been to bkk a # of times, and i agree with what you stated above 100%. however, i think being in nyc is worse than you guys in singapore. you can go for weekend or 3-5 day trips to land of smiles, which is impossible here. my last trip was 2008, so i guess i'm going thru a withdrawal stage, since bkk is like a drug.
