Personally i have taken up this roles many times, especially if i am meeting up with overseas lady friends on our 1st date. Eg, In taiwan, Hk, japan and Thailand.

1) My gifts - Godiva fresh chocolate (HK) and Taiwan.
- bracelet (japanese)
- Ring (Handmake, not expensive type). HK.

It really impressed them and break the ice for a gd start for the evening of wine and dine. Ended up them buying me the dinner and much more.....

Is best that you gave them immediately when u meet up..
- Make them happy and be impressed before your dating starts.
- Most likely you will be holding or carrying it for them for the rest of the evening.eg chocolate. this show that u r a gentleman.
