Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Liverpool FC Legend John Barnes announces ShareLiverpoolFC support
One of Liverpool FC's greatest-ever players, John Barnes, has given his backing to ShareLiverpoolFC in their quest for fan ownership of the club. Part of the last title-winning LFC team in 1989/90, John says: "I've been saddened by what's been happening in the boardroom lately, and I think it's time for things to change. Liverpool Football Club is part of the community, and it's time our magnificent supporters had a say in how the club is run." "That's why I'm delighted to back ShareLiverpoolFC. If democratic ownership works for clubs like Barcelona and Bayern Munich, why can't it work here?" Affectionately known as "Digger", John joins his old team-mates John Aldridge and Phil Thompson in declaring his support for the ShareLiverpoolFC concept. They are amongst nearly 40,000 people who have registered an interest through the ShareLiverpoolFC website Share Liverpool FC With the ownership troubles at LFC reigniting recently, ShareLiverpoolFC has been gaining momentum and high levels of media interest. On Saturday, a feature appeared in the main local paper, the Liverpool Echo, with a tear off coupon allowing many local fans who may not use the internet the chance to get to know all about ShareLiverpoolFC and to register their interest. You can see the online version of the article at: John Barnes backs Share Liverpool fans buy out - Liverpool Echo.co.uk As the season draws to a close, sadly without a trophy this year, the work to get fans on the road to ownership of our great club will continue. We're very optimistic about the prospects. We are developing closer relations to the Spirit of Shankly movement too. ( Spirit Of Shankly – Liverpool Supporters Union ). One of the SOS leading lights, Peter Furmedge, is on the Board of ShareLiverpoolFC, and we expect former SOS Chairman, Nicky Alt, (who recently stepped down from that role) to join the SLFC Steering Group this week. We want to make sure both organisations work in tandem; we share a common goal: Our Club owned by, and responsible to, the Liverpool fans. The website is currently being entirely rebuilt, so we can offer a much more interactive facility for you, and deal much easier with the substantial database we now possess. For those of you who might be interested in a form of 'group membership' (where fans can join together to purchase a single share in LFC) we hope, alongside SOS, to develop proposals for 'share clubs' which will be formerly registered, along lines similar to lottery syndicates. There's much to do. We'll be in touch soon. With thanks again for your patience and support, Rogan Taylor, On behalf of ShareLiverpoolFC Share Liverpool FC Guys, latest update from the group trying to buy over Hicks and Gillet |

Besides Alonso, there are quite a few players who aren't carrying their weight for our team consistently over a season. I think Riise, Alonso, Lucas, Kewell should go. We also need a good 2nd goalkeeper to keep Reina on his toes. But given our boardroom turmoil, I wonder if we are able to attract good players to come play in a 'political' club. I really wish the ShareLiverpool scheme can succeed. |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
I reckon we should try to keep Alonso, build the midfield around him and Gerrard.
Getting Gareth Barry will be the best coz he is quite versatile, he can play in either in defence or midfield. Definitely a great asset to have. Looking at current situation, i reckon Riise and Kewell will be allow to leave. Riise is getting slower and more prone to errors. Kewell is injury prone, haven't seen in action for a very long time. Voronin is another one i see will leave soon...another "headless" chicken........ Hope the boardroom turmoil will end soon.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Yes Harry Kewell can count as one of the biggest flop for Liverpool, when he was in Leeds, he was one of the best if not their best players....when he came over to Pool, I was actually happy for them for I thought they have finally solved the problem on the left wing side...unfortunately his career seems to have hit a brick wall ever since he joined with all his time spent on the side line due to injuries...I still believe that on his best days he can single handedly win the game for any team..

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
I read the european forums and they say we have to wait another 18 years for the title, another 100 years. We tell them to go fish. What is wrong with Liverpool? Nothing is wrong! Its just that EVERY bloody team out there play with a vengeance when they play vs Liverpool. That shows theyre still scared of us. Sure we are in sht now coz of some Americans! But then other teams have American owners too! I think its just coz these ppl can handle our repo la. It is not When we come back, we are already back! Its just the time when we will hoist the cup and let the tears run down in joy brothers and sisters! We scouse wont let Liverpool become a has been! We are not like Arsenal..cruise control but then jatuh! We play good football, we have Torres...we have Gerrard! And we have Rafa. Nothing to be afraid of. Let the season that ended be another beginning. We will fight back.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Rafa Benitez has confirmed first-team coach Alex Miller will leave Anfield to become manager of J League side JEF United Chiba. The Scot leaves for Japan after nearly a decade at Liverpool both as chief scout and, since 2004, as part of the coaching staff. Benitez confirmed Miller would be replaced over the summer. He told Liverpoolfc.tv: "It is very positive news for Alex. This is a very good opportunity for him to coach in Japan. "It means we will be promoting some of the existing coaching staff and also over the summer we will be looking to bring in a replacement. "We have some names and options but need more discussion first. "I want to wish Alex all the best in his new job." Chiba are bottom of the J League standings after collecting two points from 11 games so far this season - a run which led to Croatian coach Josip Kuze being sacked on Wednesday. Miller enjoyed a 15-year playing career with Rangers before earning his European coaching license. His managerial CV includes South China AA, St Mirren and Hibernian, who he led to the Scottish League Cup.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
HERE HE GOES: From Soccernet.
We bought him for $7 million pounds right? Did I remember correctly? Updated: May 8, 2008 Benitez slaps £15million price tag on Crouch Rafael Benitez has slapped a £15m price tag on England striker Peter Crouch on the day that he lost his first-team coach Alex Miller and confirmed that Harry Kewell will leave Liverpool. And the Anfield chief also revealed that he had held talks with Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill over the potential transfer of midfielder Gareth Barry to Liverpool. Benitez accepts that Crouch could have his head turned after a frustrating season when he has found first-team chances hard to come by - but the Spaniard insists he will not be leaving on the cheap. 'Crouch wants to play every week but knows he must fight it out with Fernando Torres,' Benitez said. 'We keep seeing Portsmouth linked with the player but we have had no offer as yet. 'A £15m price tag would not be unreasonable.' On Kewell's departure, Benitez added: 'We have tried to come to an agreement with the player and his agent, but that has not been possible. 'Kewell will leave the club at the end of his contract.' It is believed that Kewell has rejected a new deal on reduced wages. Benitez also explained further the pending saga over Barry, and revealed that nothing more will happen until after this weekend's closing round of league matches. He said: 'I have spoken to Martin O'Neill, he knows my ideas. 'But we agreed to wait until the end of the season for any more discussions.' |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
From our official website, this story gives me great hope for our future. We have a batch of good young players waiting on the wings. Phlesis was good. I think Insua (or any left back in general) will give Riise a run for his money.
NEWS STORY INSUA TARGETS FIRST-TEAM SPOT Paul Hassall 08 May 2008 Emiliano Insua has set his sights on becoming Liverpool's first-team left-back after playing a key role in the Reserves' play-off win over Aston Villa last night. The Argentinean defender, who made his first start of the season for Rafael Benitez's senior side against Manchester City last Sunday, enjoyed another eye-catching display up against Villa's experienced wideman Wayne Routledge. It was a performance that once again highlighted the 19-year-old's vast potential and he is now hoping he can go on and emulate the reserves' treble winning feat, alongside the likes of Steven Gerrard and co. "It was really good to be part of a young team which won something at Anfield because we all know what a special place this is," said Insua. "I was lucky enough to play there for the first team against Manchester City and that has made me hungry for more. "There are a lot of good young players at Liverpool and we all want the same thing to play for the first team. "I have done that but I want to do it more and more. The challenge for me now is to become a regular in the first team squad." Goals from Krisztian Nemeth, Jordy Brouwer and Lucas Leiva clinched a 3-0 victory for the Reserves to see them deservedly crowned National Champions. It was a performance that left boss Gary Ablett full of pride for his players and he is now hoping they can continue to develop and show they have what it takes to force their way into Rafael Benitez's squad in the future. "It was nice to win because it shows how far we have come since the beginning of pre-season when you wouldn't believe how bad we were," said Ablett. "Full credit to the lads for what they have achieved because they have come on leaps and bounds in the time we've had with them and hopefully now we can step a few more up from here and get them into Rafa's plans. "We all know how difficult that will be but I think a few of them have shown their potential to do that. "The most pleasing thing about the victory is that we had to tough it out. There were times when we were really under the cosh and for 20 minutes we couldn't get hold of the ball but with a bit of fortune and some good defending we managed to come through that. "It was a smashing game of football and I couldn't be more happy with them. You can see how much it means to them by the way they're carrying on in the dressing room." |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Dear Reds,
i read from the papers that we may also get david bently from blackburn which would be a great acquisition as he could play on the left & right midfield plus he is a great crosser plus freekick specialist.......... Bently would form an ideal attacking diamond with torres, gerrard & babel (which i hope can really step up next season as he has enormous potential)..........unlike a certain lucas leiva.........whom i felt greatly lacking composure & strength......... gareth barry would be a great buy though i felt we also need a world class RB & LB.............ideal players who should leave..........riise, voronin, kuyt (hardworking but couldn't score), aurelio, kewell, arbeloa, itanjie. crouch i think would leave although i thought his goal ratio is good.......... really hoping DIC would take over soon as i felt that their oil monies would match our ambition to sign world class players instead of the 2 stupid americans who talk big but no monies to invest............... all in all............let's end that 18 years wait for the BPL title next season..............plssssssssssss............ come on you reds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
