Chelsea are red-hot at the moment, Utd are on the ropes. Yes, we won 0-2 at Villarreal, but we struggled with 30% of possession for the first 30mins. And continued to struggle for the next 30mins albeit with more possession. First goal was somewhat gifted to us, though credit to Fred for his pressing.

Meanwhile, Chelsea comfortably hammered Juve 4-0. They are not going to squander the opportunities like the ones we afforded Villarreal. Especially with Lukaku coming back and probably chomping at the bit to prove a point against Utd.

The scoreline might be more respectable if the forwards work harder in defence when out of possession (like Sancho did in Spain), or if we employ a back three with wingbacks. But Maguire is suspended, Varane is injured, so I suspect we will use the same 4-2-3-1.

the media is hyping up on rangnick, who is considered as the godfather of gegenpressing. the glazers are bringing him in as interim mgr to stabilise the current situation, and then perform a consulting role as the reboot button is pushed. if this is the case, the next perm mgr also has to be a proponent of gegenpressing too

when rangnick comes in, how will he setup the team? will he utilise gegenpressing? if he does, then selection wise he may not select CR7 and maguire: CR7 not known for his pressing and maguire is too slow to recover the distance or may be forced to commit tactical fouls if his opponent gives him the slip as the team is pressing high. the possible first XI 4-3-3(?): DDG, AWB, bailly(lindelof), varane, shaw, mctominay, VDB(fred), fernandes, rashford, lingard, sancho; the bench will be an expensive one. the weaker links will be in defence as AWB and shaw are weaker in tactical/positional awareness, and bailly is injury prone, rangnick will have to spend more time on defender tactical coaching
