Yes, for sure but I could be in Dongguan or Huizhou ("launching pad" into Nan Kun Shan?). I shall PM you nearer to the time.

Thank you very much for your info on the hotels in GZ!

I tried doing a search on web for this place and I only found something on butterflys and bike ridering for Nan Kun Shan. The name was correct but I wasn't sure if it was the same place.
The chinese name is ???? Action is in the little ?????Only a few hotels in this place, but too many already for such a small place. You will be approached for mei mei when u check into the hotel. You will have fun when expectation is managed.

???. Take the bus from ?? (Zengcheng), a town in Huizhou. The bus goes to Nan Kun Shan 3 times daily from Zengcheng, and 2 times daily from Nan Kun Shan to Zengcheng. Cost about RMB18 only.

Sha Shui(HK) Mrt Station to Luo Hu (HK) Mrt Station HK10+ [Approx 8min MRT Ride]

Walk Over to Luo Hu, Shenzhen(China) Side. Will Past by the HK & China Immigrations. [Approx 15min]

Walk to the Train Station. Buy the Next(15mins/train) Train to GZ - RMB75
[Reach Guangzhou East Railway Station in 1hr 30min, Note: Its side by side with the GZ MRT Station]

For return trip, just trace back the route. Hope it helps!

Note: I find this route faster and more reliable and of course cheaper then take airport express(bus or train) to GZ.
Hi there

From sheung shui to lowu shld be 20hkd wor...how come 10+hkd??

And to GZ East station, only need 70 rmb leh...

Is GZ East and GZ station side by side?? There still some distance away from the 2 stations.

So its shld be 48hkd + 70rmb total...

Hope u dun mind i've corrected ur errors here.

Cheers

Re: POST-SARS : Guangdong Sexcapades

Sheung Shui to Lowu: HKD 18.8 (using Octopus)

For SZ-GZ East: I thought its correctly quoted at RMB 75?
Actually I am also pretty confused...sometimes I saw RMB 70 on the board, but the ticketing ahso said RMB 75??

I think he meant GZ East and the associated MTR station. GZ East and GZ station should be 15-20 mins apart? Correct me if I am wrong...

Re: POST-SARS : Guangdong Sexcapades

the best n fastest way to get from HK to GZ is to go to Hung Hom station and take the "Through Train" straight from Hung Hom to GZ East station. Its the fastest n easiest way as u dont have to get down at Luo Wu for immigration n customs n then walk to SZ station. The through train runs non-stop and immigration into china is done at GZ East station. Its a bit more expensive at HK$180, but its the easiest, comfortable n safest (as dont need to cross into SZ).

Re: POST-SARS : Guangdong Sexcapades

You are right in some way.

But the frequency is bad and the last train is 1630 fm Hung Hom.

It's probably good for those who are in Hk and can plan their time to the train station.

For those coming from HKIA, I still would suggest either the direct HKIA to GZ express bus to GZ or the 43A bus to Sheung Shui ...Lowu...GZ route.

Better still fly direct into PRC thru SZ- Bao Ann airport or GZ Paiyun Airport. Hee...hee...

Nowadays, the attraction offered by HK to Sporean ...is almost zero....

Re: POST-SARS : Guangdong Sexcapades

oh the HK-GZ through train is ok now with near hourly train service to GZ East from 7.30am onwards and the last train from HK is now at 7.15pm - as we was just travelling on that route just 3 weeks ago. Its good for those who do not want the hassle of deboarding train/bus at lowu, wait and walk thro china immigration n customs which can take fairly long time - depending on the time and generally even off-peak for a foreigner (non hk) who have to Q with the mainland chinese, the wait is generally between half hr onwards.

Re: POST-SARS : Guangdong Sexcapades

since i never took the through train from HH to GZ before...I wonder how do u guys pass through the immigration? All have to go down or what?

i agree that the HH train is probably most direct and comfortable way...but it comes with a price also HH-GZ costs something like HKD190? A return trip from SZ-GZ using similar kinda express trains will only cost at most RMB150.

also a reminder for other newcomers to china, its probably safer to take train rather than the direct travel bus. just saw a news of a bus travelling from sz to jiangshu (??) kena accident in the expressway and all got killed! i think china is notorious for having many accidents of these type!

Good to hear that the last train our fm Hk to GZ is now at 1915.

The immigration at the Lowu check point has undergone lots of changes. They're much more efficent now....

Foreigners like us has our own lane...in both the HK as well as the Chinese side. Definitely need not Q with the Mainland Chinese....The half an hour wait is not longer needed now...

Ticket between SZ to GZ-East is between 65 to 70rmb fm the normal class... for non holiday period... During peak hours....it's every 15 minutes interval...non peak hours... half an hr.... Very convenient...Need not schdeule or rush for the train.... last train at 2230....

http://english.ctrip.com/ (english)
www.etrip.com (chinese)

www.elong.net (english)
www.elong.com (chinese)

Hope to stay in GZ for a nite:
Which is the rec hotel for RMB 400 n below , Gal friendly and close to means of transport to get to ZhuHai.

In ZhuHai plan to stay 2 nites
Again looking for sumting around RMB 400, gal friendly.. if possible within distance of sum happening ktvs..

Thanks in advance.

Re: POST-SARS : Guangdong Sexcapades

Couldnt say much abt GZ since I am rarely there. But heard that ALL hotels gonna be full during the Trade fair, so, accomodation wise in GZ will be pretty difficult.

As for Zhuhai, Yin Du Hotel is a good choice and pricewise pretty reasonable too at around RMB 300-400 if I am not wrong. It also has an in-house sauna and near to Lian Hua Road where freelancers are roaming (at least the last time I went).

Re: POST-SARS : Guangdong Sexcapades

To add on...transport from GZ-ZH should be pretty convenient as they have those coach buses going every 20-30 mins or so. It should take around 2 hrs.
