Yes Bro DYBJ, what some of them did can be said as being inhumane. Actually, and I hate to say this, I believe 90% of the fault may be with the guy. Too eager to please, too eager to fall for it. As to why I say this, there are reasons. For one, I ktv for like 3 nights average a week, meet some new prc ktv girls and not one of them call me or message me. I treat them averagely, nothing too profound and says very little about myself. All my buddies are the same except 2, who left their mobile numbers and followed up thinking they'll get free sex after their sessions but afterwards, both got KC and almost left our group. They dun know each other, being of different groups, but both shared the same fate.

When bro lovemachine said about WL being hitched to successful businessmen, this is also true. All sg guys are susceptible to their charms (and I am not saying only the pretty ones ok). While I am not saying those businessmen are dumb, I'm saying WL offers a value proposition that has never been seen in sg. Where in time in sg are there so many available mistresses/FBs/gfs/WL? I've spoken to them, all stories come back to the same point, they can pay for their WL affections. They thought they have control, becos they are the ones paying, but in the end, who controls who?

Frankly, I dun know what will happen to sg if all the WL leaves. They are no longer any social phenomena, they have a role in our society now. And that role is to give us another one big illusion to live on our little lives. Its a child's toy for a child who will never grow up.

All these stories unfolding here shows that it is just one big illusion stacked upon another. The greatest irony is, we still happily think we found an alternative gf, and possibly treat them better than any other gf we knew.

But again, if you read this and think that I am generalising, oh yes I am. But if I give you isolated cases, you'll think this message is from another WL-lover. Personally I had 6 prc gf before, the last one I knew her in sg, none of them treat me this way. But when I see the tears coming down my bros eyes, I dun have the heart to say a word other than "its ok, its over".

Its like War of the Worlds, something so alien has invaded us and we're like flies going after their flame.

Sometimes you think about it, when you give them gifts or S$$ (esp when both of you are not that close - in terms of time spent together.) They can actually think that you are a player and do this to every 2nd girl you meet.

If it is just us, the Singaporean men, it begs the question why we behave like this. Too much pressure in the real world that we escape into the fantasy world where we imagine that we are the heros rescuing the damsels in distress? Are we masochists who enjoy the feeling of being hurt or reckless risk-takers thinking that it (ie the heartbreak) would not happen to us?

If we can understand our own psyche better, perhaps we can find a way out of this conundrum.

To me, the reasons pushing guys to do that depends on their socio-economic level and age. It basically stems from the word, OPTION. Without money and status, you have very limited chance with the girl of your dream (now that the media glorifies syt-type girls, I guess thats what most of us want as gfs). With money, you have also have very limited options as first, marriage and kids doesn't make a lot of financial sense (thats why the more successful guys either marry late or divorce very early) and second, got so much money to spare why stay with only one? WL enters the picture and fulfil everybody from poor to the rich, young to the elderly. So 'option' is reason number one.

Sg guys are actually more conservative, if you notice, and that makes us a little more MCP, 'face conscious' and weaker in will power. That brings us more towards the naive scale in terms of relationship but mind you, sg guys have good business minds. Its just that we do not usually bring our guts out to work, fearing that one day, everything will be taken from us if we just heong for one time. WL enters the picture, polishing our feathers and having a field day with our mental weakness. So, being naive and 'low profile' is reason number two.

Third reason is practical. We are a repressed lot of people. IMO, repressed means being made to think in a certain way. So that leaves a lot of room, and urge, for us to think in a way we always wanted. For an affordable price, we can achieve that (like in Total Recall, where a holiday trip is just an infusion of memories). So much so that some of us do that so frequently, and indulge in it so deeply, that we thought those dreams are real. At least until one day, when you sent your favourite prc gf to the airport, came back and sleep in the same bed, wake up in the same position, while driving to work you realise that it is no different from a dream.

There are many more reasons, I guess all of us want something different in our lives. But I believe in the end its becos they can fulfil some of our greatest fantasies, that's why some of us are willing to trade our lives for it.

A story to share..

Call me an incurable romantic fool but I really believe that there can be true love between an ex so-called WL. Everybody without exception has a past, be it good or bad.

The question can be further expanded to state: " Can there be true love with criminals? " For me, I firmly believe that everybody deserves to be given a 2nd chance or even more chances to lead a more fulfilling life provided he is willing to change for the better.
