I will ask around to see what I can come up with, but can you provide more details? So far we only know she is an OFW whose contract is over and you want her to come back. |

Re: Philippines, Olongapo City
To those bros who have PMed me for certain information, please be patient as I need to do some checks before I reply to you. My replies will be to selective bros only. I will not reply to those that are doubtful status or whom I have not met personally. Gotta be safe and take precautions in view of what had happened.

Re: Philippines, Olongapo City
Willtan2001: Thanks for starting the thread and also the many information about your time in Olangapo.
Thanks also to the others who gave info about the bars, Zoobic safari, Marine Park and costs of "services". I just back to Sg from Philippines and I see I have 5 pages of info to catch up on. Just wondering whether any brothers have noticed the mini castle on an island off the beach at Subic. Camping here for more info and also will share my limited knowledge with you all when I free. Gotta work now. |

Re: Philippines, Olongapo City
TS, good job starting this thread. As usual, some girl had invited me to go visit her in Olongapo, but didn't dare to go before, thinking it is only a small village and preferring subbic to Olongapo.. having seen this thread, am planning to visit Olongapo on my next trip - of course telling girl that I am going there just to visit her! hahaha...
Hopefully can convince some of the brothers to join me there.. I know a few will be there the next time I'm in Angeles.. hehe..

I do not know why many foreigners often are confused between these 2 places. Using a comparision - Olongapo City is to Angeles City whereas Subic FTZ is to Clark CDC. |

It was built as a prop for a movie during the pre-war years. Nat King Cole sang some songs for the movie soundtrack and one of them became a top hit. He even came to the Philipiines to perform at the Colliseum. It was the property of the producers of White Castle Whiskey which used it in the filming of the advertisements for the White Castle Whiskey. The company went bust and the building was left unattended and soon became derelict with graffiti all over its walls. It was only recently that someone repaired the building and gave it a white coat of paint. The rumours were that a rich guy's daughter wanted a castle so he bought the building to present her. Dunno if its true coz no one has been able to confirm the rumours or finger the rich guy. |

Re: Philippines, Olongapo City
I am not sure what's your problem? It is the normal procedure for all female pinays leaving the country.
Quote:
The Philippines Embassy in Singapore has reported that Singapore, being a Freeport, is a regular destination and transshipment point of Filipinos who are victims of illegal recruiters and prostitution rings preying on young women. The Embassy receives frequent queries from Filipinos in Singapore who wishes to invite relatives and/or friends to visit them and requires affidavits to be authenticated by them, as there have been discoveries of affidavits being forged by human trafficking syndicates to facilitate the departure of "tourist workers" or would-be OFWs dusguised as tourists. Immigration officials at the airports may require affidavits and other proofs from travelling Filipinos who claim they were invited by relatives and friends abroad. Such affidavits must be authenticated by the Philippine Embassy in Singapore, but such affidavit is not a guarantee that the invitee will be allowed to depart. It is the discretion of the immigration official to allow or disallow the departure of a passenger depending on the assessment during primary and secondary inspections. |

Just been there for 1 night a month ago think in Baretto, stayed in Johansen.
Olongapo i go there eat buy things only. I like the laidback atmosphere, but seems like not much cheonging places, not so much bars like AC. Will still visit again. |

Re: Philippines, Olongapo City
Thank you for educating me on this. truly appreciate it. Hahaha.. the joke is on me now! Perhaps, the reason for the confusion (at least for me) is that I've heard about Subic more than of Olongapo City - hence the assumption.
Yes, plan to visit Olongapo during my next visit in June.

Re: Philippines, Olongapo City
After the US forces left, most of the businesses died. The present bars represent less than 10% of the activities available back then. AC was a distant 2nd compared to Subic during its heyday.
