Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
ANDYSIAO nice topic.
1st Dario Srna - definitely world class, can play right back and right wing. has pace, can cross and good attitude on the pitch. Most importantly, Rafa will appreciate his versatility. 2nd Tuncay Sanli - another Kuyt but I think with a better team playing with him compared to Boro, he will perform good enough. a good squad player to have. 3rd David Villa - I think I don't have to say why. 4th Ashley Young - English, consistent and what we need in alot of ways. can cross, pace and pitch in with goals. We should have got him for 10 mill from Watford when he was offered to us in 2007. Personally I hope players like Babel, Dossena and Lucas can step up next season too if they stay to show us their true colors. It will be like signing new players. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Arbeloa's contract is left with 1 year. He can leave for a Bosman next year and he has mentioned that he wishes to return back to Spain. Maybe that's why Rafa is willing to let him go. Luis Garcia left because he was home sick too.
I think with the world cup coming next year, all these internationals need to be playing on a regular basis. If they aren't, I doubt they will be selected. If Arbeloa goes to Real and sits on the bench, I'll laugh if he doesn't make it to Spain's world cup squad. Already, he's just a benchwarmer for Spain. Reira seems to be in the starting 11 for Spain quite often on the other hand.

rafa would sell if barcelona pays good money, but certainly not 23 mil. 45-50 mil would be more reasonable. rafa would then be able to get a couple more of his targets with the additional funds. and rafa would certainly want yaya toure to be in the make-weight deal. toure will be a decent enough replacement, although i still cant think of anyone who is better than mascherano in his position. sad to see liverpool fc paying for the greed of david moore. it is entirely his fault when he accepted the americans' offer instead of DIC, just bcos he got to pocket 70mil all for himself.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
if its really down to the $$ difference beiong offered here, i rather GJ go back to chelski and suck there, rot there.
i believe Liverpool has the history and heritage and pride, so much more than moneybags chelski. So should he decide to pick to go to the reds, it will be a better choice even though money wise for now, we cannot match $$$ bags. But Rafa looks to be bringing us up further a notch while chelski face uncertainty over their new coaches and a few aging squad as well.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Torres signed a new contract last month and is confident he can satisfy his ambitions on Merseyside.
"A lot of players committed themselves to Liverpool this summer with new contracts and players don't do that unless they think they can have their ambitions met. "There is a lot of belief at the club and a lot of trust in the manager. I sincerely believe I will win the Premier League and the European Cup here. The winning tradition is very clear at Liverpool. I want to be involved in a little piece of their history." He continued: "I'm very happy with my contract at Liverpool and wouldn't leave just to earn a little more somewhere else where I wouldn't be that happy. To want any more would be greedy and that is not me. As long as Liverpool want me, I will stay." ..... "We won't win the title because Manchester United have become weaker but because we have become better." Liverpool's perilous financial position has increased speculation about the future of their star names, with Reds boss Rafael Benitez consistently denying midfielder Javier Mascherano is on his way out of Anfield. Torres also believes the Argentinian will stay, adding: "Javier loves it at Liverpool, that is all I can tell you. he's fast becoming a true legend...!!! YNWA

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
The Final Showdown Looms SHARELIVERPOOLFC WELCOMES EARLY DAY MOTION (WITH CAUTION) The broken promises of Liverpool FC’s owners have not gone unnoticed by MPs. As the deadline for the refinancing of the loan to LFC’s owners looms, MPs have urged the government to put pressure on RBS not to extend the loan. According to reports in the Liverpool Echo, MP for Walton, Peter Kilfoyle, acknowledged that RBS is an autonomous organisation, but explained that the government, as majority shareholder, has some considerable power in influencing decisions. The Early Day Motion, tabled by Peter Kilfoyle, relates to ‘Royal Bank of Scotland and Liverpool Football Club.’ It states: ‘That this House notes the Government's 60 per cent stake in the Royal Bank of Scotland; further notes that the Royal Bank of Scotland provides a credit facility for the American ownership of Liverpool FC; is aware that the American owners have failed to deliver a new stadium for Liverpool FC, thereby delaying indefinitely the regeneration of one of the most needy areas of the country; and therefore calls on the Government to ensure that the Royal Bank of Scotland does not renew that credit facility at the end of its current term.’ (EDM 1669, 15th June 2009) ShareLiverpoolFC share these concerns surrounding the delay in building the new stadium, and especially its effect on the local community, but our fears for the future of Liverpool FC lie deeper than this. The financial statements released recently give us real cause for alarm. Not extending the loan is not enough to safeguard the future of Liverpool Football Club. We are urging the government and RBS not only to refuse to renew credit facilities to the current owners, but also to consider plans to put the Club into the hands of the only people we can be sure will look after its long-term future: the Fans. ShareLiverpoolFC would like to reassure you as ‘registered members’ that we are doing all we can to become involved in negotiations. We are working closely with Supporters’ Direct and Spirit of Shankly, as well as leading businessmen and politicians to achieve this end. We must be able to offer a sound alternative to the current regime and your support helps us do this with credibility. David Moores quits With the announcement that David Moores has joined Rick Parry in quitting the board of LFC, no doubt many who blame him for selling to the Americans will be delighted. However, we should remember that between them, Parry and Moores exercised their rights on the board to limit the amount of debt Hicks and Gillett could place on the club, and ensured that they gave personal guarantees for up to £40 million. Now they are no longer there, there is nobody to restrict the owners' freedom of action - except perhaps the banks themselves.

TRANSFER TALK !
IT'S WAR! That's the verdict of Catalan daily El Mundo Deportivo, which claims Real Madrid are set to hijack Barcelona's move for Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano. Liverpool has been asked to name their price for the Argentine midfielder. We should ask for more than 80 million as Mascherano is better than Cristiano Ronaldo |

Insider News !
It seems the $$$ problem is unsettling many foreign players plying their trade in the BPL. The impending implementation of a 50 % tax on earnings above 180,000 pounds will see many players have their income drastically reduced. Liverpool's defender Arbeloa is eager to return to Spain as he does not intend to suffer a paycut Several others are set to follow his example I hope the Liverpool team that was assembled by Benitez dun start falling apart |
