They are using Hema-Strip,I heard from the net that it can detect antibodies even earily than standard elisa..not FDA approved but approved by singapore govt..FDA approved only matters when the product is used in USA..3 or 4th generation only matters in the first 6 weeks...after 6 weeks..every test is the same..4th generation test is actually a combo of P24 antigen and 3rd generation elisa...which is meaningless if u take the test at 12 weeks...the P24 antigen only exist in the blood at the first 21-28 days..

It's been 90 over days since I bonked a rumoured HIV+ FL. Until this day, I still dunno it's true or not, but most people dismissed it as sabotage rumours. Anyway... that not the main issue.

Went to DSC today.... as for the procedures.... I need not repeat... there are already many postings. My only comment is that the volunteers are very friendly and professional. They are very polite, don't rush you, don't stress you. C'mon... we all already so gan jiong liao.... if stress us some more sure mental break down. Even the pipe music they play are happy cheerful music. Definitely no Adagio in D minor by Samuel Barber.

This is my 4th or 5th HIV test over the last 9yrs of cheonging... but my first time at DSC. Was surprise to see so many people there between 6:30~8:00PM. The moment I step in, it was queue no. 16330. By the time I step ou it was 16360++. All sort of people shape and sizes. Chinese, Malay, Indian, mostly guys from army kids, smartly dress professional, heartlander and Ah Beng Kias.....straight looking men and many who are obviously gay. Saw 3 ladies. 2 dress in office attire and one Ah lian with tatoo all over.

Cousellor told me test results will be ready in 20mins from time of testing
By the time your turn to discuss results....30mins from testing
So I guess.. if take more than 30mins.. that means got problem/complications liao!!!

Took test at 7:10pm..wait wait wait
20mins liao..... ok never call my number
30mins liao.... shit still never call my number
40mins liao..... shit..how come still never call my number
50mins liao...... people with number bigger than mine already got their number and leave DSC with a BIG SMILE on their faces
55mins liao... 16340!!!... my number liao..... wah lau eh... I tell you I was shaking and my legs were so weak.

If you folks have watch sex and the city... there was an episode when Samantha Jones went to do her HIV test.... and fainted on her way to the counselling room..... for a while I thought that was going to happen to me.

The results..... HIV -ve.... sibey heng. Actuall feel like whacking the counsellor for taking so long. But after hearing the good results... give chance lah.

Haiz.... I have been a sex addict for the last 9yrs. I am making a renewed resolution to retire. Actually I am going though some addiction mgmt programs. If any of you guys want to know more or feel like doing the same.... can PM me lah.

Personally..... anything from zero to 5~6 times a week
I do not think it has anything to do with the frequency.... it's whether I am in control of my sexcapades or the humongous urges are controlling me. The key issue is CONTROL.

I also just got my test results. Did not do it at DSC but went to a private clinic. Unlike the DSC Anonymous HIV test... this private clinic test also include HEP-B and VDRL. Want to check... might as well check everything lah.

Talking about this clinic.... somehow got 2 chio Ah Lianish looking nurses. Doctor a bit insensitive... while the 2 nurse walk around the consultation room... doctor keep saying at top of her voice... THIS HIV TEST WILL COST HOW MUCH HOW MUCH LAH. THE VDRL TEST WILL COST HOW MUCH LAH!!! IF POSITIVE THEN HAVE TO THROUGH ANOTHER TEST LAH LAH LAH. Wah lau... make me so paiseh.

We are using Abbott Industries’ Determine test, which is not FDA-approved. It has very high sensitivity and specificity levels, and we have had no problems with the test. There is no reason to doubt the reliability and accuracy of the test.



Testing negative at 3 months is certainly a very good indication that one is not infected, though testing at 6 months is almost a 100% guarantee.

I have done raw with a PRC somewhere in May after a bachleor's nite out in KTV ans occassionally have Hand-Job only at TN after that. After waiting for so many months, will like to go for the test done by AFA.

It's a abt 5 mths plus, do you bros think I can go for the test now or I shall wait somemore.

Also, I have read the thread on the Operating Hours for AFA, but still a bit confuse.

Could anyone who have done the test recently give an Update on the time, location-is it on 1st or 2nd floor, test procedures etc...

All bros can flame me as much as they want to but still hope some kind hearted soul will reply to this.

Thanks for the info...They used to be using hemastrip many years back...But I think they have change it to abbott determine...Sounds better because abbott is a branded test...

As for the window period...12 weeks is considered definate by Dr Bob...A well known HIV specialist from thebody.com..I think singapore is still using the old information from the 1980's which is 6 months...The reason behind testing at 3 months or 6 months is based on the knowledge on human immune system and not the generation of the test...the 3rd generation test are only good in the initial 6 weeks after infection..after 6 weeks..all generations are the same..Those states in US are confident in saying 3 months is because they have 1 million HIV infected patients thus having vast knowledge in seroconversion period...singapore have 2000+ hiv patients so they are pretty kiasu and hold on to the 6 months theory...

We are not going to flame you but encourage you to take the test...You are indeed a responsible person to get tested...Just get it done so that you can free yourself from this HIV crap..you can take a final test now and it is definate...any test after 3 months is conclusive so dun worry..I will be pray for you getting a neg..take care

go for test, the window period is more than enough, as ur hj should be 99.9 safe( reserve 0.1% as commercial sex no 100% safe), the raw with the prc might be a problem, so please go for a test to clear ur worry, you will be fine.

test for afa, wednesday 6 to 8pm, sat 1 - 3pm( any bro please correct me if i wrong). just go in the main door u will direct accordingly as all office hour staff had went back and only left the afa personnel. take care.

Hi To all bros,

Last nite manage to gear up my courage to take the tset at AFA.

Result: The staff tell me I am OK.

Go at abt 7 plus, found place rather easily to find if you walk at the main road. Found Kelantan lane, turn in and at the corner you can spot DSC easily.

Fill up a form paid $20 n told to wait. Have a little routine chat with the councellor, and proceede to draw blood at another room.

Try to relax myself by reading newspaper but its not that easily. Abt 15 mins later call back to the same first room, the lady was smiling at me.

She show me the test strip and explain to me, the first line on the top is showing that the test strip is working fine, and If I have a second line lower below I have the anti-body.

Thank god, I oni gt the one line which is on top. Before leaving, i ask whether is it necessary to check again, she replied is not necessary, telling me I am ok.


Jus will like to check with those bros who have taken the test before, does this mean I am clear of HIV when she say I am OK?
