Phra Sothon is one of the most revered images in Thailand. The most revered is Phra Keow (Emerald Budhha) followed by Phra Chinnarat. The next will be Phra Sothon.

The legend of Sothon is as follows:

Legend says that there were three bronze cast Buddha images floating down from Prachin Buri and they appeared at Sampathuan County of Chachoengsao.

The villagers, after recognizing the situation, tied the three images with ropes and tried to pull them out of the water but they didn't succeed. The three images continued floating downstream. The big one later appeared at Ban Laem of Samut Songkhram where the people of Ban Laem enshrined him at Wat Ban Laem. The small one appeared and was enshrined at Wat Bang Phli of Samut Prakan.

The medium sized one, Luang Pho Sothon, appeared in front of Wat Sothon. The people helped and put their efforts to pull it up from the water but they did not succeed the first time, Then a man having good mind power built up a small shrine for a ceremony paying homage to Phra Phuttha Sothon; they invited him and pulled him up to be enshrined at Wat Sothon successfully as can be currently seen.

There are two annual fairs celebrating Luang Pho Sothon; one falls on the middle of the 12th lunar month and the other on the middle of the 5th lunar month.

My 2 cents worth..

The images taken are very blurred.. but from the general outlook, this looks like a Wat Paknan batch 6.

This batch is not very rare but still there are fakes.

Wat Paknam amulets are generally very good for wearing as they have to undergo 3 months of non-stop chanting before letting go to the public.

My 2 cents worth..
